    What actually makes it....

Science fiction - Some anomaly, usually advancements in technology but always something that can be explained or is thought to be explainable through science (realistically or not), that changes society or culture from what we consider normal to something nearly unrecognizable. Generally set...

Dragonlance: Dragons of Autumn Twilight (2008)

Re: Dragon Lance the movie - do not get excited. I'm going to have to agree with Overread on this one. I can't stand it when CGI and classic animation are mixed like that. It's kind of like nails on a chalkboard, or rubbing a baloon the wrong way. It just kills me to experience it.

What the movies have taught me

When someone asks you if you're a god, you say YES! But if they ask you if you're Sarah Connor, say no.

    Eight Planets...

Not just yet, actually. The only dwarf planets as of now are Pluto, Ceres 1 (the ex-asteroid), and "Xena" as it's commonly called (UB 313). Though more are to be classified later, naturally. Time will tell, though.

    Eight Planets...

Well, the IAU decided that eight was enough, and have thus taken Pluto off of our planet list. Their decision: RESOLUTION 5A The IAU therefore resolves that "planets" and other bodies in our Solar System be defined into three distinct categories in the following way: (1) A "planet"1 is a...

Sol System, a 12 planet system consisting of a...

The reason Ceres is up for it is because it has sufficient gravity to make itself spherical and it orbits the sun directly, and not around another cellestial body. Just because it's a lifeless rock doesn't mean it shouldn't classify. Mercury has no atmosphere and is, for lack of a better term...

    Fun Haiku

I wrote a bad haiku blog on my MySpace, but due to bad language, I'll just go with the link. But be warned, filthy language ahead: http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendID=8011484&blogID=140502748&MyToken=22c2a4c7-8171-4874-938d-b75888db3379

    10th planet found

Well, technically, there is no such thing as a "planet" as it's never really been defined. But that's soon to change, as the International Astronomers Union will be putting the definition to a vote in August. They hope to announce their decision by early September. The last time this need to...

    Alien (1979)

Since the Alien series is my favorite sci-fi series, I had to throw my two cents in: Alien: Remarkable movie. I agree that this one is legendary and near perfection. Aliens: Most amazing sequel ever made. I think the reason for it's amazing success was that they changed the genre. Horror to...

    Brilliant computer art

Silly question about this pic: http://www.oyonale.com/ldc/english/mainstreet_east.htm Is that a pizza delivery Tyderium shuttle in the bottom right corner? I can't quite make out the words...

    Animation Cels...art?

I would never collect animation cells as art simply because I would never be able to afford it. Kind of an expensive hobby. But sure as I breath, if I had the cash, I'd have a museum dedicated to old Warner Bros cells. The artists that work on those are increadibly talented, in my opinion, and...

    Firefly reruns...

Probably only doing it because Serenity is coming to theaters soon. But maybe they'll pick it up and start airing new episodes (what can I say, I'm a dreamer).

    In the Mouth of Madness

When I was in middle school, my friend Ryan insisted that we go rent this movie (at that point, I had never heard of it). I wouldn't have done it had he not started beating me with a wiffle bat (hollow plastic baseball bat, for those unaware) to convince me that the movie was worth the watch...

    Vtm

I played the VtM: Redemption (I think that's what it was called, anyway). Can't run Bloodlines, though. Pity, too. I'd love to play as a Malkavian. Can't remember what I played in the Pen and Paper game. Haven't touched my Vampire books in so long...

    PC first person shooter controls

I haven't played a first person shooter (or any computer game) in years (ever since my computer become obsolete for gaming). But back in the day, I used to try and use the same configuration for every game: Up Arrow Key - Move forward Down Arrow Key - Move backwards Left & Right Arrows - Strafe...

    Controllers

For me, the hardest adjustment was going back to the old NES controller after years of playstation gaming. It was so small and awkward. And lacked buttons. Of course, if our old Ataris still worked, it probably would have taken first place. As for new controllers, I'd have to say the X-Box...
