Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019)

It didn't necessarily grab me. But then neither did Homecoming before I saw it, so there's that. I'm also fresh off the high from Spider-verse, so this looks a little pedestrian is contrast.

What's the deal with Mysterio? I assume that none of that stuff is real, and he's pulling a Syndrome-like scam to appear to be a hero? That does actually intrigue me, because it's not something we've seen before in superhero movies (outside The Incredibles, of course...).

I found this film somewhat convoluted and less enjoyable than the other Marvel films. Mysterio being Mysterio wasn't much of a twist unless you were completely unaware of either the comics or the old TV series.

Also - HUGE spoilers at the start for Avengers: Endgame. It's one thing to base the plot partly on the loss of an Avenger, but it's another to list every single Avenger who did die across Infinity War/Endgame in the intro credits.

The only way to avoid the spoilers is to watch the Marvel films in order, but people like my eldest saw Spiderman: Far From Home first and didn't want to watch Avengers: Endgame because it had been spoiled for them.

The hazards of trying to appeal to a cinema-only crowd I guess, vs anyone who might mix cinema/DVD or just DVD watching.
