Rey theories SPOILER ALERT

Personally I still think she's Luke's daughter, but my other half thinks she might be Obi Wan's granddaughter. Or another immaculate conception. If she's the latter, I reckon she might be a reincarnation of Anakin, sent back to make right that which was made wrong (like a Star Wars Eric Draven).

Also my other half has predicted that Ben Solo has fallen for her and that she will prove to be his path back to the Light Side. I like that idea.

I like the Ben Kenobi theory of all of them. In essence, the Grandchild of Obi-Wan would avenge (hopefully) the death of her Grandfather by killing the grandson of his killer. This is a family saga, and I would like to think that there are other Jedi and Force sensitive that feature beyond the Skywalkers. Plus, then, Ben's actions would ripple throughout the entire series.

Do you not also like the idea that Kylo Renn's story arc might be just like Anakin's but in reverse?

I do - But I look at this like a series of Failures for Kenobi, and the try fail cycle says that his (technical) third pupil will succeed.
Kenobi failed to train Anikin, and he turned to the dark side.
Kenobi failed in training Luke, who failed in training Ben (Solo) and is the new enemy.
Kenobi will arrive in spirit form (Ewen McGregor) to help teach Rey how to bring balance back to the force.
I think that Ben will do the ultimate sacrifice like Vader, and die killing Snoke while Rey takes care of anyone else.

Or, do you mean Vader in reverse like Benjamin (Kenobi) Buttons?

Ha! No reverse as in starting as a Sith and turning to the Light Side by the end of the trilogy, the reverse of Anakin's arc in the prequel trilogy.

Then it would be this way:
Episode I-III => Anikin Light to Dark
Episodes IV-VI => Anikin Dark to Light
Episodes VII-IX=> Solo Dark to Light?
Then, I stand by my earlier statement where Solo would sacrifice himself to kill Snoke the way that Vader (Anikin) sacrificed himself to kill Palpatine.

Perhaps he will. But I'm convinced that part 8 will end with a massive offensive by The First Order into the heart of The Republic.

I just re-watched The Force Awakens last night. Here's my theory on Rey's parents: She's the daughter of Princess Leia /General Organa and a man other than Han Solo.

As reveled in The Force Awakens, Han and Leia broke up / grew apart after the birth of Ben Solo. It seems that Ben is about 7 or 8 years older than Rey. Han Solo probably knew of Rey but never met her until he and Chewie captured the Falcon. When Han and Chewie are reunited with Leia, Rey has already been abducted by Kylo Ren. Rey and Leia only meet toward the end of the movie with no dialogue - just a few knowing glances and a long hug. It's that scene that makes me think Leia is Rey's mother - well that and the fact that they were never together until almost the end.

So why would Leia strand Rey on Jakku? Likely so that she wouldn't be found by Snoke - especially after what happened to Ben. And her father? Perhaps a Resistance member. Anyway, the father may have stayed on Jakku to look after Rey from a distance - sort of like Obiwan did with Luke.

It's also possible that Lor San Tekka was her secret guardian - perhaps even her father. Of course, Luke knows.

Anyway, that's my guess.

There is a theory on YouTube that she's Palpatine's granddaughter...

I'm not sure about that, I'm buying into the Obi Wan theory at the moment

I've suggested this is the main thread, and also that Rey will lead him to the light side and some form of redemption. However, that would pretty much invite a rewrite of Return of the Jedi for Episode 9, in which Ben Solo defeats Snoke after a massed attack on Snoke's main base ...

I think that Rebels has laid the groundwork quite clearly for balance to be grey, that it's not an opposition of light and dark but the way of the Bendu. I think the fox in the trailer is important as it is also something seen in rebels.

So does Rey abandon the jedi perspective at Luke's urging and lead Kylo to the middle ground???

In this movie I can see Kylo and Rey BOTH abandoning their allies at crucial moments

I hope so! I want to be surprised by the films, not feel like they're simply retreading the same ground.

If there was going to be a Star Wars film that will have a few plot twists, I think it would be this one. Which will be a welcomed thing.

I don't buy all the smoke and daggers mis-information from the studio. Clearly Rey had a doll of an x-wing pilot in her camp. And clearly she had Luke's 'Red 5 helmet', and clearly she had visions through Luke's eyes when she touched his lightsaber. I guess Luke could still be her uncle, but my money's on him being her father....it won't be revealed straight away though, they will string it out most likely

that's not Luke's helmet. Red 5 helmet had a red rebellion crest on it, Rey's had yellow.

I think Kylo Ren is correct when he tells Rey that she already knows the answer herself, that her parents actually were the two Jakku peasants who sold her into slavery, and that she is just refusing to accept it. It perfectly mirrors Anakin's origins on Tattoine - also sold into slavery by his poor mother (though there was no suggestion of who his father was.) So, there is no genetic/ family history explanation of where the Force came from in Anakin provided - it was simply the Midichlorians doing their thing. Why, therefore, does there need to be such an explanation for Rey? In addition, it also fits with the epilogue backstory being built up, of some grassroots resistance movement, made up of orphaned, enslaved and abused children.

Rey says she sees Kylo Ren's future, so perhaps she's also aware of something of her own - hence why she clings on to any symbols of the rebellion that she finds, symbols that will one day have real meaning for her.
