Gemmell Movie?

Gerard Butler would be my first choice for Druss and Tom Hardy for Waylander.

Skilganon would be tricky because you'd need a real method actor to properly bring across the tortured aspect of his character.

Im rather surprised he hasn't been adapted to the big or small screen.

Gemmell was approached many times for the screen rights but they always wanted to also buy the rights to his characters, a notion which Gemmell found abhorrent as he didn't want to have to ask permission to write new stories with his own characters.

I would have had a problem with that too . What happens now that he gone?

I've probably said before but at this point I would prefer to see a (decent!) TV series a la G.o.T. (come on HBO - this is your 'next big thing'!!!)

Iain Glen who portrays Jorah Mormont in G.o.T would be a good choice for Waylander IMO. His look and age in G.o.T is ideal for the role. I think Russell Crow would make a decent Druss if he put on a couple of stone and grew a big beard. He's still a decade too younge really, but I am sure a greying beard and a talented make-up artist could add 10 years to him.

Just watching Godless on Netflix. Only 20 minutes in but getting a definite Jon Shannow vibe. May not turn out that way but made me head to google and found this forum.

For me it seems the easiest seriea to adapt to film or tv as its probably the most simple visually to recreate.

The rigante series is my favourite and id love to see midnight falcon done as its my favourite Gemmell book. Was the first book i ever bought as a 10 year old boy and been an addict ever since. But my addiction to DG has ruined everything else ive ever read

I am with the crowd that believes his works would make a better tv show than movie. Jon Shannow would make a great lead character in a show. Waylander or Druss would be possible too but you would have to have the right people playing them. Waylander could be played by Manu Bennett who played Allanon in Shannara. He also played Deathstroke on Arrow so he is very used to fantastic outfits and fight scenes. Druss is a bit harder. Tom Hardy could absolutely pull off the role if you are putting him in the era of Legend of Deathwalker.

Manu Bennett is a good call for Waylander, but I still like Gerry Butler for Druss: he is actually Scottish so doing the accent wouldn't be a problem...

a bit out there but Zach Galifiankis as Druss. He might be a bit short but take a look at him with his shaved head in The Hangover Pt 2, a bit more beard and some time with a trainer to bulk up a bit and i think he'd be good (also a guy on Twitch by the name Llamachomp when ever i see him i just think he would be great as Druss, but he isn't an actual actor but the look and personality he has just always makes me think of Druss)
For Skilgannon I think Zach McGowan from Black Sails (Charles Vane) would be perfect and for Waylander I'd probably go for Viggo Mortensen

How about Ron Perlman as Druss?
Good call! I was trying to think of someone physically intimidating but also older, that could convincingly be coming out of "retirement." He was excellent in a role like that in Sons of Anarchy.

I was always partial to King Beyond the Gate, mainly because I thought Decado was awesome. I'm thinking he could be played by Mads Mikkelsen or the guy that plays previous-sleeveTakeshi Kovacs in the Altered Carbon Pilot (can't find his credited name).
