Discussion Thread -- FEBRUARY 2017 -- 75 Word Writing Challenge

Is there a POST ENTRY thread that happens after the initial Word challenge and Vote goes down? Like for those that worked on something specifically for the project but just couldnt get the words down low enough to make the grade?

It would still be nice to read people's possible entries that dont meet the standards of the challenge.

Hello dudes and dudettes.

The bear is right. Get your story in, A.S.A.P. Or you'll have to answer to Rimmer. And none of us want that. But no worries. Take your time. Take a nap, then post. Nice shirt. I see you dress yourself, alright. I don't like your socks though. Boring. Well, bye for now.

As long as Rimmer salutes properly

You can post your Challenge entry in the "Improving our 75-word stories" thread if you want feedback on it after the voting is done. If you mean something that wasn't entered at all, you could post it there if you want feedback or in this thread if you just want to show it to people without critique. This happens sometimes when someone goes over the word count and has a story removed, for example -- they can post it after the voting so it at least gets seen.

I voted for Victoria Silverwolf's "The Woman and the Moon".
I'm not sure exactly why, but on each read through I kept returning to it as my preferred choice. It may be the simplicity of the prose, or I may just have a weakness for heading for the stars.

There were many stories that caught my eye. Most of these are on my longish first list: Ashleyne, Luiglin, Calliopenjo, Johnnyj, Droflet, Culhwch, DG Jones, Dusty Z.

Hello dudes and dudettes.

Starbeast just realized that he has a "stealth vote" from @Calliopenjo . He's laughing, and flopping around on the floor like a fish out of water. No worries. Lister and Cat are using Starbeast as a drink mixer. Bye for now.

Well, time to vote.... I really liked this genre. One of the things that I really like about fables as that they are supposed to have a moral in them.

I have 3 on my short list:
@mosaix .... "The Little Girl and the Newlywed." A classic moral!
@BigJ .... "Purpose" A moral everyone should live by.
@Jo Zebedee .... "The Tale of Aster and Moss" Another moral people should take to heart.

The 2 contenders
@TheDustyZebra .... "Let it Shine" I almost fell off my chair reading that moral. It was hilarious.
@The Judge .... "No More Mr. Nice Shrew" Extremely clever and well written and a solid if unexpected moral.

Voted for @TheDustyZebra ..... What can I say this line had me from Hello! A bird in the hand of a Rolling Stone gathers no moss, but it’s worth more than two in the bush.

Time for some voting action.

Here's the shortlist:

@Victoria Silverwolf - Bad Moon On The Rise and Fall
@Shyrka - Fun story from a fun guy
@Peter V - Hi Ho Silver Lining!
@Droflet - dragon yer heels
@Parson - A story so cunning you could stick a tail on it and call it a fox
@Culhwch - It's a New Day, it's a new dawg, it's a new ball for cat, and he's feline good
@The Judge - The Gaming Of The Shrew
@Kerrybuchanan - I can't stomach that.

And my vote went to Parson for one that felt the mostest fabliest for me, and yet still added a nice, irreverent twist at the end. Way to go!

I've read through and even managed a short list.

There were lots of great stories and Luiglin Peter V, Kerry, Parson, mosaix and TJ get a mention.

SB gets a thumbs up for making me chuckle with a crap story ;)

But from the moment I read it there was one that stood out and remained in my head at the end.

Vote to Victoria.
