just want to say hi to everyone , I have been looking for a book for years I think the book came out about 20 years a go and it goes something like This ,set in a town of toy makers and a witch comes and a boy goes with her
This book for some reason has stayed in my head for years I know it was book one .
If anyone can help me you will help me get on with out going into book shops and stop just looking for this book many thanks rocket .

It's possible someone will recognize this right away from the details you've given, but until the real book-finding detectives arrive, I wonder if you might remember any other details from the story? For example, was this a fantasy, or a folk tale? Or maybe science fiction (were the toy makers robots, for example?)?

Do you remember any names? The town...the witch, the boy? Even what types of toys they made?

What was the time period of the book? Modern day...Victorian...feudal (Europe, Japan, etc)? I hope we can help you find this, and any additional details might help. Best of luck, and stick around the site for awhile, even should we find this!

What I remember is , the book is science Fantasy English / USA , set in snowey village where all the people make wooden toys . A witch who is the baddy comes down the to the village in a slay I think pulled by some sort of monster , the village houses are all made of wood and carved ,the boy the Hero is taken or goes arfter the White Witch up the Mountain. The cover was light blue (in England ) I know it was the book was the first of a Series . It was not set in a moden or a car time frame , there was magic involved .

Not my kind of thing although I'd be pleased to learn about the monster you mentioned - am looking for creature types for a story

Don't know the book I'm afraid, but it does sound rather like some Christmas sort of tale. Were the villagers elves? Anything else you can add - like what did the witch actually want?

I would add that so far what you're describing is Fantasy and not Science Fiction. If it were Science Fiction there should be science involved. Were they on a different planet? Was the witch or the monster pulling the sleigh an alien?

I wish I could help, but I haven't a clue at this point.
