What are you working on right now?

Finally started writing again after an almost 3-month hiatus. Illness, baby arrival, working absurd amounts of overtime, and a general burnt-out feeling had me leave my writing be, but the moment I opened my computer and started up, it was like I had never left. This is a very good feeling.

the main character is borderline psychotic (objectification, lack of empathy, etc.) with a history of violence and makes his living as the neighbourhood thug-for-hire. The female lead is a multiple personality (I studied psychology back in the 70s so my terminology is dated)

Finally, something I can help with that relates to my field :ROFLMAO:

I believe the proper term for multiple personalities nowadays is Disassociative Identity Disorder, although there are many in the field who don't believe it is an actual condition. Also be aware that if there are at least two truly disparate personalities, there is a distinct possibility that one or more of the alters is unaware of the existence of the other(s), or that anything is wrong at all. But seeing as this is a thriller set in the 70's, I think you'll be just peachy in that respect. (y)

'Donna' is the foreground persona, and unaware of 'Margo', who steps in when her 'kid sister' can't cope...with things like murder, larceny and sex-for-favours.

At the slightly awkward phase of redrafting book three of The Bloody Crown Trilogy. Need to fiddle with the ending, and tie up some loose threads. Think I know how to proceed, though.

I thought there was a thread like this, but I've searched back and the only one I could find was 'What do we all write?' which isn't really what I mean.

So, this'll be interesting. We all like talking about ourselves...

What are you working on, writing wise, right now. It can be editing, research, short stories, novel, comp entries. Anything you're working on, I want to hear about. As long as it's related to writing. If you're fixing your car or something, I don't care.

At the moment I'm mostly working on the revisions from the publisher with allmywires, but when I'm not doing that, I'm working on my Allery story.

More specific? Today, I had to add more kink to the romance. The publisher liked a certain scene we had, but wanted more pre-scene stuff. So it meant I had to put a weird search thing into Google. I won't share. :D But I ended up adding almost 400 words.

With my Allery story I'm currently researching lots of drug abuse stuff. One of my characters is a junkie. I was watching a vid on YouTube about a guy in prison going through withdrawals and learning about how the veins in your arms kinda disappear.

Your turn.

I'm working on a novel that is related to Greek and Norse myths in a contemporary setting. It's difficult not to get carried away in the plot and lose the characters so I'm having to redraft with this in mind. It feels like a monumental task but a fun and worthwhile one!

Working on the serial. Had a good day yesterday, finished a chapter (plan to have nine in the initial test to see if it's viable, probably in 3-4 parts to avoid the size of releases being too small). Minimalist style and small cast working nicely with fast pace and plot twists aplenty.

After spending all my time on the publishing side lately, I'm back to doing some writing of my own. I worked on my SF novel last week, and handed it off to 3 more beta readers! In the mean time, I have started writing in Sleepy Grove again, and hope to get to the 50K mark today. I laid out the rest of the story beats yesterday, and now I have a plotted guideline for the last 20-25K words. I tend to be more of a pantser, but am starting to lean on the planning more and more, as I find it gives me better focus and allows me to write faster. Anyway, hopefully in a couple weeks I will have my second novel's first draft done!

Currently working on my blog as I've hit a milestone with my novel writing and am taking a short break from it.

But got sidetracked tonight by rereading a 10 year old write-up of some rpg sessions I gmed back in Uni. The write-ups weren't edited as they were created to be uploaded to a roleplaying forum.

So rereading them I am torn between the pleasure of reliving old adventures and the abject embarassment of reading my own clunky unpolished descriptions.

That being said I am totally re-using one piece of description. One of the Player Characters shot a villain in the knee, creating "an explosion of blood-wreathed bone". Got to work that into my novel somewhere.

Trying to get the final edit of "Thumar," into my hands, so I can complete the final details to print. I am self-publishing. Most all of the ducks are in a row, but they need to be corralled into a semblance of order. I am hoping for an April release, we'll see? Wish me luck, and some more patience!

13,000 words into the rewrite of THE DRAGON MISTRESS. Weirdly, I've decided that the dragon's POV does work for some aspects of the story, but I'll be keeping it to a minimum. As such, it might be that the dragon's POV only shows up in 4 or 5 chapters. Still, at least I've found a way to make it work.

A scene where my main character speaks before a subterranean court made up of the ghosts of dead cities.

Also blogging.

Dysentery and bitterness. Fits well with a Monday morning.

Up to 30k words!

Unfortunately, that covers the two novels and a short story I'm working on... yeesh.

Look at my lovely thread, still alive three years later. Why hasn't it been pinned? (Or has it?)

I'm working on the Allery story I mentioned in the first post.

Because it's always up there anyway. :p

Yay, you're back in it again! Because this thread is always teasing me, making me think for a split second that you're back, when I see it pop up there with your name on it.

Mouse...we are still here. Toiling at the keys, sweating over the rewrites, and crying over the pain of it all. (missed you :))

I am currently taking a five min break from working on Sleepy Grove which I vow to finish by the end of this month. Word count 58,000. I am getting this book done!!!!!
