How do you arrange your "to be read" pile?

Very interesting to see how different everyone's methods of selecting their next book is.

For the past years I used to have a note on my phone where I would write down the name of books that were either mentioned in former books I read or that I heard about through friends of acquaintances.

Since I don't own a phone anymore, at least not one that I can easily write notes with I mostly rely on the website Goodreads. As far as fiction and SF is concerned I usually consult lists of classics online and sometimes add them to my "To read" section on Goodreads. Concerning non-fiction, it's mostly historical of social studies that I read about either in the news or in precedent reads. Of course, I sometimes just come across a hardcover and read it just because I can easily get my hands on it.

By the way, is there a Goodreads group with the member of this forum? I am really looking forward to share thoughts and exchange about books I am reading. My friends and family don't read much.

Here's my latest sci-fi to-be-read pile

Tell ya what's a good tip for this - stop reading through posts in Chrons! Every time I spend 30 minutes in here I come back out with a list of books to buy or download. So addictive and I can't help it. My family moan if we all go to a restaurant cos I end up picking like four starters and three desserts with my inability to say no to something. Can't help wanting everything! Especially books

There's only one true way to select your next book, you will need:

A Dartboard.

Irish whiskey.

An eyepatch.

Three Marlins.

Does that include ones you started asking for suggestions ?

;)

Nope! Just can't help myself. Some days i got three or four books on the go, real or e versions. I still find myself looking through here and goodreads and stack etc and adding even more to my TBR pile. In mitigation it was classic adventure tales I requested suggestions for ( light relief when not engrossed in volume four of a 5 book space opera etc )

I finally built a bookshelf to replace the books I had in piles, stuffed in drawers, and boxes. Now I have come face to face with my book hoarding, as sci-fi/fantasy books take up the entire bookshelf.

It also doubles as a second cat tower, since I also appear to be a cat hoarder.
