The problematic books

Soooo... The WOT series has its fair share of problematic books, are they really as bad as everyone makes them out to be? I have been planning to read them but keep putting them off due to said books, I think it starts from book 7 and ends with 10 but book 10 is the worst.

I think it's better now that the series is finished. At the time it felt that the story wasn't progressing and would never be finished, kind of like Song of Ice and Fire now.

I love Robert Jordan's books... He's one of the finest fantasy artists, as far as I am concerned. That said, I think Path of Daggers was essentially a waste of paper, and another book worth probably could have been cut by sprinkling said book into the rest of them...

I think you should read them. For me, I like the bad books as much as I like the good books.

Its a very subjective and personal thing.

For me, the swamp started with Fires of Heaven, but it wasn't until Path of Daggers that I thought "This is actually a problem". I enjoyed Winter's Heart though, although its still in the swamp.

There's things I wish Jordan hadn't done with those middle books, but I still enjoyed them and a huge amount of people do. But some people really don't.

I think the big issue is the style and stereotypes but... if you make it past book 3 or so of the WoT and don't have a major problem, you're good for the series.

Im going to embark upon this series soon. Ill probably read a different book.in between each WOT installment to avoid fantasy burnout. Is that how people normally tackle this series?

I thought that there were that many books because each one would end with a showdown with one of the Forsaken, followed by the Last Battle.

Yeah, no.

Honestly, several of them were really, really slow burners.

I am stuck at crossroads of twilight for months on my re-read. Still stuck.
