The book title reflects this mans occupation as a miner and he's a special kind of mine pilot (he's also young)... to be the miner he has to have dexterity in his hands and a quick mind.. which leads into the next part of the book where his whole race/miners/family got wiped out.. he then became a space pilot which helped because he already was very good at piloting.. I know this isn't much but just can't remember the name.. hopefully someone can help

Any clue as to when it might have been written? When did you encounter it, and was it old or new at the time?

TheDustyZebra is right that even a little more information would be helpful. But this sounds a little bit like Ryk Brown's "Frontiers Saga" the gifted pilot first comes on the scene either in episode one: "Aurora cv-01" or episode two: "The Rings of Haven."

Sorry I didn't get back to you earlier but it would be a newer book probably within the last 5 years... I read it on Kindle must have read it on unlimited because it doesn't appear in my library or past borrowed books. Which is odd.. I always thought the title was the same as the name of the type of space pilot miner the main character was. I'll take a look into what you told me and let you know if it's that series =). Thank you for the response I really appreciate it

Hello, Michael moore! Crazy thought...when I get something for my Kindle, Amazon sends out a confirming e-mail. I just looked, and I have e-mails from Amazon going back many years in my in-basket...is there any chance you are as irresponsible as I am, and haven't ever properly cleaned out your in-basket (assuming you've used the same e-mail address these last five years)? Perhaps there's an e-mail from Amazon confirming the book was obtained by you? (Not sure if Unlimited sends out an e-mail, though...I buy from the regular Kindle service.)
Hmm, according to Wikipedia, Kindle Unlimited has been around only since July of 2014...so if you read the book earlier than that date, did you buy it outright? If so, perhaps an old e-mail from Amazon might give you the book's name. (And I wonder if it's possible that you might have deleted the book by mistake from your Kindle library?) Just throwing the idea out there, and best of luck finding the book! CC

The only part I clearly remember is the book either starts off or the main character tells this story. Also he is human.

He started out as a space miner I'm not sure if a family miner or with a small knit group of miners or what. He was a pilot of one of their drills/one man ships and he drilled with a single team and their goal was to collect more resources then the other (teams) to be good at it you had to be very quick and precise with you hands/mind or both (I'm not as sure about that part). He takes a risk while mining the asteroid or whatever it is and either barely gets away or has to be pried out of his ship can't remember which... and that's about all I remember...

I'll try to remember more.

I might be wrong about becoming a pilot for a fleet.. I know it's not much to go on but ya

Maybe... Jack Glass by Adam Roberts. It opens with the character as a miner and then breaks into a range of different stories about the same character in other roles. I didn't get far enough to know if a pilot is one of them, though. :( but the timescale fits.

Nah Harry Harrisons slippery jim (the stainless steel rat)series nice havent read it since i was 15 on my reread list going most of my old books again some dont live up to my memories of them though

Does Kindle Unlimited show in "My Orders"? I don't have an actual Kindle, but only a Kindle app, so I don't know. But all of the books I've bought show up in "Digital Orders".

You can look at past borrowed books in kindle unlimited. I'm starting to think I need to go through every sci fy book I've borrowed or bought. But it's a process.. I'm hoping I didn't borrow it from someone as a paperback but I'm starting to think that I didn't get it on kindle.
