Hugo Awards 2016

The winners are in and the losers are the 'puppies' who have been trying to break the diversifying of SFF for a few years. Here is a link to an article in The Guardian about the awards.

Yes, the puppies lost big time here. Chuck Tingle had a lot to do with that, I think, by making their agenda look so ridiculous.

Is this the only time in the history of the Hugos and Nebulas that all the fiction awards went to women? I would imagine so.

I wonder if this is something of a backlash against the the Puppies. Sort of "You don't like political correctness? I'll show you political correctness!" Which may have something to do with the ethnic diversity of the winners as well.

It would be strange to see science fiction (not so much fantasy) become a field dominated by female writers. (Maybe not so much the sheer number of writers, but the most acclaimed ones.)

Time will tell.

I would hope that isn't the case. Voting out of spite would be just as bad as voting simply because the authors are white men. It would make the Hugos just as invalid.

Let's just allow authors to be authors…
