The Caves of Steel movie planned

I read in a magazine today an article that states a US TV series called 'Human' has been commissioned; the plot synopsis made it sound very like The Caves of Steel

Daneel has to be 'perfect' looking, some one who is completely and utterly the most attractive man ever, so much that he doesn't seem real. I know Daneel was modelled after his creator, but I just saw him that way when I was reading it. I have no idea who could play Daneel so cool and calm but with a certain charm.... but if you find him would you mind giving me their number? ;)

And me too! A gorgeous Daneel is all it'd take to make me go and see the film.

Trouble is, who.....? I'd like someone graceful and elegant yet somehow strong looking, like a dancer. And absolutely no thick-necked beefcakes please!

It would have to be somebody around 6 foot in height and well-proportioned. Daneel was described as having broad high cheekbones, and would no doubt have had fine regular features with possibly a firm mouth and chin with a look of intelligence and an aristocratic air. He was also described as a 'perfect physical specimen' so whoever acted him would have to have a pretty good toned body too.

Daneel was also described as 'bronzed' so someone with strong colouring and not too pale would be needed for the part.

(It seems like, looking at the formatting above, that one could insert an Image? When I'm feeling a bit braver I'd try to do this - has anyone tried to do this.....?)
 
sorry but that sounds like a description of me, but I'll be too busy to take part...
 
Well, these are only my idea of what I consider both handsome and a possibility for Daneel. Others will no doubt disagree on both counts, but, here goes.....

Hoping that this Link works how about one or two of these for Daneel.... ?

Some are obviously too-pretty/young, but others are noticeable lookers with good bods and cheekbones, and looking to be more in their thirties (the age I image Daneel to look like).

Wasn't The Naked Sun adapted to some horrendous film called Surrogates starring Bruce Willis?

I hope these films are good. The stories are timeless in my opinion, not dated. If you remember when they were written, the mind-blowing element is amplified, but they are still great reads in the 21st century.

No. Surrogates was based on the graphic novel of The Surrogates.

I remembered something about humans living in seclusion and only interracting using their robots, and thought it was based on The Naked Sun. Easy mistake to make I guess when you haven't seen the movie. I remember it got panned by critics and I just didn't have the time to go see for myself. Was it actually any good?

Oh boy, when I saw this thread my heart started to pound. It is a shame that it fell through. I hope sometime in the future someone somewhere gets this film off the ground.

To the best of my knowledge I believe this has been dropped. Certainly there have been no reports on it that I've seen since 2011.

Fox has hired Akiva Goldsman to adapt its sci-fi mystery “The Caves of Steel,” based on the Isaac Asimov novel, Variety has learned exclusively.

The studio set up the project in 2011 with Fox-based Simon Kinberg directing with Henry Hobson. [...] Previous drafts have been written by John Scott 3 and Jamie Vanderbilt. [...]

Goldsman is a prolific screenwriter who won an Academy Award for “A Beautiful Mind” with credits on “A Time to Kill,” “I, Robot,” “Cinderella Man,” “Batman Forever,” “Batman & Robin,” “The Da Vinci Code,” “Angels & Demons,” “Mr. and Mrs. Smith,” “The 5th Wave,” and “Winter’s Tale.”

I think it will have to. For example I remember there was a fairly major plot point in the book where a camera film got fogged though proximity to a radioactive source. Of course Asimov can be forgiven for not realising that photographic film would disappear long before the Robot era but obviously that would have to change, and it was a fairly important clue in the book. So yes a fairly major "modernisation" overhaul would be needed but only of details I would think.

I think I remember reading somewhere that Asimov realized that his plots and stories didn't leave much with Hollywood to work with. Maybe he did that on purpose, or maybe it's just a result.
