Disney: Strange World (2022)

A fun an interesting Disney film that shows a lot of creative effort. Also, no singing, which is always a plus for me. It's also surprisingly very socially progressive, so am expecting to find some complaints about it online. Kids should especially enjoy it, though.

That's probably due to the lack of singing! If you are involved with girls of a certain age (luckily I'm not at the moment but I do know teachers and brown owls etc.) then you must be sick of hearing Frozen on a neverending constant loop.

I've actually never heard of this. Did it get shown in cinemas in the UK, or just went directly to the Disney Channel?

Edit: Okay, I see it is out in cinemas right now.

Interesting to read some of the critical responses cited on Wikipedia:

"Strange World is a Disney milestone in terms of representation – but as a storytelling experience, this dazzlingly animated adventure offers little audiences haven't already seen."

"it's the characters as much as the environment that make this vibrant, Journey to the Center of the Earth-style adventure movie colorful and diverse in all the best ways. Great as the people and places they explore may be, however, the relatively unimaginative story consigns this gorgeous toon to second-tier status ..."

Certainly there is a homage to some classic old SF films, but I think the response that it's good but not great is a fair one.
