Not sure if this is good or bad, but this quote has some alarm bells ringing
"explore additional movies based on iconic characters such as Gandalf, Aragorn, Gollum, Galadriel, Eowyn, and other characters from the literary works of J.R.R. Tolkien."

"based on" implies, to me, stories unrelated to Tolkien's original vision

Which means we might be getting such films Young Gandalf and Aragon the Wandering Years .;)

One story I wouldn't mind to seeing s film is one center around Balin and his quest to reclaim Moria.

I just had a look at their rights and it seems to be mostly games, and mostly Japanese, but they do seem to have the rights to Bill & Ted.

Now a Bill & Ted / Lord of the Rings crossover?

Or a Lord of the Rings/ Conan the Barbarian crossover. ;)

In the words of Bilbo:
"I'm going on an excellent adventure."
