What Anime and Animation are you currently watching?

The Legend of Vox Machina. An Amazon original. I was pretty excited after watching the trailer. The blood and guts mixed with humor made me nickname the show "A medieval The Boys". But it's more than that: it's a well-balanced story. There's humor, sure, both gross-you-out humor and silly-puns humor, but it also has glooming and heartwarming moments.

The episodes are being released weekly, and I'll keep watching.

Started watching RANKING OF KINGS. Still watching Sgt. Frog; approaching episode 200. ONE PIECE episode 1006! I much prefer comedy, but, am watching 86 & BLADE RUNNER BLACK LOTUS.

Jojo's Bizarre Aventure Part 5: Stone Ocean. A little disappointed by this. I've set my expectations too high I think. It's much less bizarre than I thought it would be. I guess Jojo really is famous because of the memes.

Miss KUROITSU from the Monster Development Department is rather funny & I am enjoying it. The episodes' titles are very long!

Girl's Last Tour. A very sad story about two girls in a world devastated by war. From the first episode, I can tell that the main theme is "children don't understand war". The art-style is chibi, with the characters drawn as if they were children, and that's a powerful contrast, making the story and theme even stronger.

The art resembles Made in Abyss a lot, and I even had to google to see if it was by the same author.

I've just started watching JoJo's Bizarre Adventure and Attack on Titan. Both are pretty good. I think, though I need to get JoJo instead of just borrowing it from a friend. I haven't watched it for awhile, but I have seen some One Piece episodes.

I haven't gotten to part 5 yet, so this does have me a little worried.

Just watched Sgt. Frog #248, & sadly, the subtitles were not synced to the audio. Lagged by at least 20 seconds.

That's one of the worst things that can happen--one of the others being the images blurring during action scenes because the media players can't handle them--, and it's very frustrating. Have you tried finding another source for your subtitles? Also, do you pirate it or watch the official streaming?

Vox Machina was good - better as a comedy than a serious drama, I thought, but pretty decent overall.

I watched the first two episodes of Cowboy Bebop. I enjoyed Samurai Champloo by the same bloke. It looks very good, especially for its age, and the machinery is cool, but the characters seem thin and the episodes were rather filler-ish, perhaps because they were very short.

Started watching Heaven Official's Blessings on Netflix, mainly to expose my 1-year-old to more Mandarin, having no idea what it was actually about and not expecting much. I'm actually enjoying it a lot more than I thought I would.

Love After World Domination. A member of a hero group shamelessly based on Super Sentai (which you know as Power Rangers) falls in love with a leader of the evil side. He confesses his love for her and they actually start dating, but keep it as a secret from everyone else. It's a great rom-com, and it would a serious contender for anime of the season if Spy x Family also wasn't premiering soon. I think it's better then Kaguya-sama because it feels newer.

They took some liberty translating the title. It should be something like, "As for love, it comes after world domination". It makes more sense but it doesn't sound as good.

Kaguya-sama: Love is War S3. It literally starts where S2 left off, and it's as absurd as the other seasons. The problems is it doesn't have the same feeling as the first time, even a year later. I believe they're giving more attention to the side characters in this season, at least in this first episode.

Aharen-san is indecipherable. A schoolboy tries to understand the girl who sits next to him (his "seatmate"). She is similar to Komi-san from Komi can't Communicate: she has terrible social skills and can't talk to others. Just like Komi's friend, Aharen's friend will do his best to help her.

I'm finding this funnier and even more wholesome than Komi-san. It's just not as well directed. I'll keep watching. Spring season is full of comedy!

Spy x Family. As expected, probably the best anime of the year. The first episode almost brought me to tears, and I even know the whole story 'cause I read the manga. There was no opening though, as is common in rushed first episodes. I'm excited to see this opening.

Ms. Shikimori's not just a Cutie. Another Rom-com people've been talking about. Basically, the protagonist's girlfriend is a yandere--a beautiful girl who has a dark side. I watched the introduction and the OP and decided to drop it.

On S2 of a rewatch of Netflix's Bojack Horseman. I first watched this in 2020 and then went straight into a rewatch, which was too soon, and I only made it to about where I am now. Think I'll go the distance this time though.

I watch on CRUNCHYROLL.

Summer Time Rendering. Another one from this season. I decided to watch it because the manga has already ended, and I like completed stories.
A boy travels to an island where he used to live to attend the funeral of a childhood friend. The police took his friend's case as an accident, but it is revealed that she was probably strangled. Other weird things are happening in the island, like people seeing their doppelgangers, and some of the locals seem the know about this 'curse'. The boy sets to find out what's happening.

I like the atmosphere. The Japanese countryside, with its heat and the chirping of cicadas, is very unique, and it reminds me of other works like When They Cry and Shiki (and the plots also look like a lot). The mystery is well directed and keeps you hooked. It also has those anime comedic sexual scenes, like panty shots and a boy falling into a woman's cleavage just to get slapped. I was very impressed, until the last second...

The protagonist gets killed in the end, and then he returns to the beggining of the episode with his memories intact. Just like Groundhog Day. I'm fed up with stories like that. Edge of Tomorrow, Re:Zero, and the aforementioned When they Cry are the same. I'll give a chance for this because I liked the first episode so much, and the story is complete, but I must say I'm a little disappointed.
