My new Kobo should be arriving today and I need to fill it full of classic SF & F! Please send me your recommendations!

What style are you into? If you go to Baen Books free library (All Books) you can grab handfulls of militarry SF, and find authors that you like. 'course, the're almost all single titles out of a series, but if you like something it's relatively easy to find the others in the set, and if you don't like them, delete - with nothing lost except some reading time.

I was going to suggest the Belisarius series (Flint/Drake) but it seems they're offering the second bokk (in the heart of darkness) rather than the first (an oblique approach). Strange.

Generally I hesitate with recommendations, as my taste doesn't always line up with anyone else's.

Or, if you have Calibre (a free program) that enables translations between differen Ebook standards you could try for our own Joe Zebedee

Inish Carraig: An alien invasion novel

Which is probably only available on Kindle, but Calibre allows you to access in Kobo

Or, if you're lokking for older stuff there's whole lot available under Project Gutenberg which involves trawling for, but it's frequently things youth (early Mesolithic).

Well, my baseline is PKD, Heinlein, Lovecraft, Huxley, Herbert and Bradbury. I haven't read a huge amount of Asimov or Clarke beyond the obvious I, Robot, 2001, Foundation etc.

Open to anything in that classic age 50's-70's.

Fritz Leiber (for sf or fantasy, or horror/urban fantasy for that matter)
Fred Brown
Leigh Brackett
Theodore Sturgeon
Avram Davidson
Damon Knight
Roger Zelazny
Eric Frank Russell
Cordwainer Smith
Clark Ashton Smith

Find any of these for free, take a chance and see if you like their work.

Anything by Roger Zelazney - The Amber series, of course, but my personal favorite is Lord of Light.
Anything by Phillip K Dick - they’re all weird and wonderful
Just about anything my Ursula Andress and I think she used the name Andre Norton before it was “acceptable” for a woman to write Sci Fi
Repent Harlequin said the Tick Tock Man - Ellison (I think)
Whipping Star and/or Dosadi Experiment - Frank Herbert
And of course anything by Asimov or Heineken.

OOOPS….Ursla K. Le Guin

Andre Norton was an author in her own right. I don't think that Le Guin ever used Norton as a pseudonym.

Daybreak 2250 by Andre Norton
