No heroes. No prophecies. Just the price of survival.

Follow three less than noble souls as atrocities of the past inevitably collide with the schemes for the future of Azlettia.

Hengist is infamous among a violent collective of conscripted criminals and slaves known as the Black Cudgel, enforcers answerable only to the priesthood. Exalted as the ‘Butcher of the Pit’ for publicly slaughtering the condemned, this elevated status purchased with brutality and mass murder leaves him with no shortage of enemies who’d love to see him dead.

Gunda is considered one of the most ruthless and successful slave ship captains to have ever sailed upon the Shackle Sea. However, that success comes with a price. Now, she must navigate the turbulent waters of politics and intrigue as her ever growing reputation constantly invites both new and old dangers alike.

Asta, along with her family and entire faith, was purged from Azlettia after her father was murdered, and she was forced to live in exile at her mother's side. But as her mother plots her return to power, even Asta can see her mother is no political mastermind and fears that she has allowed greed and desperation to lock them both into a dangerous agreement with dangerous men.

The only question is what is one willing to sacrifice to survive?

I welcome any support offered by the community, as well as any input/suggestions given. At heart I find the greatest privilege of a writer or any artist may have is having someone else truly enjoying what they labored to make. So, to any who read it, I thank you.

Feel free to post any thoughts etc. Or PM me if you prefer.

I took on the Grimdark genre as a personal challenge of making a monstrous enforcer, a slave ship captain, and a cult leader the main characters to drive the story. I hope my readers enjoy it!

If you wish to provide a critique(a review) for the novel on Amazon it would be greatly appreciated.

This book will be free on July 16th for 24 hours for Kindle. Enjoy! (I'd extend it longer but Amazon restricts how many days you get to use promotions every enrollment period)

For anyone who missed the chance to get this novel for free in the past, I am still seeking anyone who has any interest in sharpening their knowledge of the writing craft with an analytical review of my novel.

If anyone wishes to receive a free digital copy in exchange for an honest review, feel free to PM me.

I like the concept of this, but I'm not up for Grimdark reading at the moment. Need lighter reading for a little while. :)
A completely understandable matter of taste and timing. I drew a lot of inspiration from Clive Barker's 'Hellbound Heart' and Robert E Howard's Conan short story "Red Nails" and I know these kind of stories aren't for everyone.

But I welcome the day when you do take the time to enjoy the novel under the right circumstances.

Sold 2 eBooks, and 1 paperback in the UK. If anyone on this forum bought that Paperback or eBook, I offer my sincere gratitude and hope you enjoy the book.

The digital copy of this book shall be free from October 4th to October 8th!

If you grab a copy, you are welcome to share your thoughts in a review.

Please enjoy.
