I'm in the last week of this writing course by podcast. After hitting a 25k crisis I was struggling to sit down and write, put it off, and achieved little when I got there, but this course has got me into the swing of writing nearly every day. It's packed with exercises and tips that could be really useful if I hit a wall or am struggling further down the line too. It takes little time commitment - just 20 minutes ish a day, and all the writing is done during the podcast. I'd really recommend it to anyone who is struggling with their relationship with writing, finding it hard to develop a writing habit, just starting out, or blocked.

I am on week three of this program! Due to health issues I'm not quite able to do it six days a week though, so it has taken me four weeks to get this far. But regardless, I really am enjoying it! And more importantly, I feel it doing some serious good to my writing habits. Will definitely carry on!

Yeah I didn't do it quite 6 days a week but it has changed my outlook for the better!

I'm actually trying this out now! Thanks for the recommendation!

Also... figure it's worth asking... I've been looking to join a little writing group (nothing crazy, I just write for fun). Anyway, for some reason, people have recently been extremely unwilling to meet with me face to face. Any shot you know of any virtual writing groups? I am new to this community but haven't really been able to find any on here nor on writing.com.

Cool. Thanks again!

There are a number of us who have formed online and real-life writing groups here on Chrons, but most of them have arisen organically after members have got to know each other, and usually after the members have put up work for critiquing and have given critiques since that way it's easier for members to assess whether they'll enjoy working with someone and swapping stories with him/her -- if you hate horror, for instance, you don't want to jump into a writing group where you'll be reading nothing else!

What I'd suggest is that you settle down here and join in different threads, give feedback on pieces put up in our Critiques section, and as and when you reach the required 30 counted posts, put up a piece of your own there and see how it's received. Then, once other people can see how and what you write and how you critique, ask if anyone wants to join an online group with you.

Cool! Yeah so I am on day 6 of Couch to 80K and my girlfriend actually found a collection of writers through MeetUp so I'm going to start doing that. Thanks for the tips! I will look into this stuff more.

I was mostly just fishin' for other noobs like me that might want to grow in their writing together. I find that I am better at reaching my goals when I am in a community of people with similar objectives.

@luriantimetraveler did you mean Brandon Sanderson? I couldn't find a Brian Sanderson on Discord, but I have watched a bunch of Brandon's lectures on youtube. I think it's super awesome that he takes time out to help other writers.

@The Judge that makes a ton of sense. On to the Critiques section I guess... Hopefully, I'm not a total noob at that too.

Thanks again, everyone.

Wow, also just dropping in here for a belated thank you to @Dragonlady ... I've been looking all over for something like this and am very excited to start! I'm a believer in the 60 days to a new habit (that's how I finally started flossing, ha!) and I'm stoked that this will get me... uh... 80% of the way there? What's math again?
