The Mandalorian rejoins old allies for a new mission.

I have to confess, I felt this was a bit of meh-episode, starting from using the Child for a mechanic engineering. Why is that Mando cannot get a couple of Pit Droids and an Astrodroid for fixing his damn ship?

In this season, he's had unbelievable amount of issues with Razor's Crest. It is almost as if he was better by using the public transport than flying from a planet to another to get his vessel completely repaired. To be honest, it is starting to get on my nerves. Especially as we know that Mando doesn't like droids for some reason. The other choice would be hiring a Chief Mechanic to short his stuff out between the episodes.

It is also kind of strange thing, because this season episodes has been written by Jon Favreau, which makes me think that maybe he's went through a patch where he couldn't figure out anything else than wrecking the ship. In every episode.

Maybe the stranger thing is that on his way to find Ashoka, he stopped by the one planet I didn't think he would be going back. Nevarro is not a good place for Child. Not that Corvus is going to be it either. There will be something that will ef them, because it is unlikely that there will be peace since Mando blew Gideon's Research Base.

I don't know what you guys are thinking about it, but I couldn't again but assume that the whole research is based on the fact that they'll need to resurrect the Emperor for the First Order. Some of you might remember Joss Whedon's Alien Resurrection, where Weylan-Yutani brought back the Xenomorphs by utilising cloning technology.

The science officer in the research base said that they needed a subject with a high MD count, meaning that either they were bringing back Vader or the Emperor. We know that Anakin holds the record for the highest midiclorian count in the history, but we don't know exactly for what reason, because the information was never released.

Another thing that I mentioned in the last episode is that the Emperor and Vader had their research projects for making the Force Sensitive super troopers. In the Rebels we saw the Inquisitors. In this series we have seen the Death Troopers. But there were others, and I really doubt that the Emperor saw his end coming and therefore issued his people to do cloning research.

Who would do that sort of thing?

Another thing,

Why is Moff Gideon starting to resemble Vader?

I agree with you that he is getting involved in too many scrapes and making too many enemies. He should have a much more reserved, and softly, softly approach if he wants to keep the Child safe and find ex-Jedi Ahsoka Tano. Instead, everywhere he goes, he blows stuff up, causes mayhem and attracts the attention of New Republic pilots. it is no wonder that Moff Gideon knows exactly where he is. A tracker isn't even necessary.
Why is Moff Gideon starting to resemble Vader?
He he was supposed to be dead, so maybe the suite with the chest-box is an artificial heart/lungs or something else medical? And maybe Vader also needed that as well as the helmet to stay alive? No one ever explained what it did.
The science officer in the research base said that they needed a subject with a high MD count, meaning that either they were bringing back Vader or the Emperor.
I didn't catch that MD reference. So, they wanted the Child for his high midi-chlorian blood count? They didn't appear to be taking blood from him when Mando rescued him from that machine, but if that is what they are retconning now, so be it. That doesn't mean they are trying to resurrect someone dead though. They could be attempting to inoculate living individuals to make them Force sensitive. They could be making Dark Troopers, artificially Force sensitive soldiers? Snoke and Rey's father were supposedly given Force sensitivity artificially.

I don't think it's because Moff is hurt and need artificial support, but there is something that makes him look like Vader wannabe. We haven't seen him using Force powers, but it is as if he is the biggest fan boy and he wants to do everything to bring back the Imperium.

I also thought that it might that he's wearing a flight suit, but that isn't it either.

I really doubt that Moff was thought on how to use light sabers, but in the off chance, there might be a Sith behind him and whoever it is, it is influencing him. Although there is also a slight chance that he's connected to Adm Thrawn and therefore he knows certain things.

We only know that he's hell-bent on getting the Child. At the same time we don't really know for what reasons, because they don't give us the antagonist side. Only glimpses that lead to speculation.

Well yeah, but it's easier to find those who naturally have the high count than trying to make them artificially. In the Rebels the Inquisitors were turned Jedi's. They were brainwashed and some of them had gone completely bonkers, if they had not died in the process.

In the movies we haven't seen any other than Rey's Knights, but I think we can safely assume that they were all naturally Force Sensitive. The Death Troopers we saw at the end are directly connected to the Emperor's Resurrection

Another look on Moff Gideon's kit

To me that is an advanced version of Vader's chest kit. The belt reminds me of General Grievous. The sabre is definitely The Dark Sabre, not a copy of it as unlike the traditional models the blade itself is flat-ish. Then there is the cloak. Why the cloak?

If Moff Gideon is a master Sith then he certainly hasn't revealed it in any pieces we've seen. It is more likely that he was Emperor's Apprentice, as there were so many of them. It's just you cannot wield the sabre effectively if you haven't trained for the combat.

Ashoka is a master, and she took on Vader during the Rebels and lived through it. She is also the only one who has damaged Vader's armour significantly. Against her Moff would definitely lose, but against Mando he would at the moment win the battle.

But... if he is a Master or Emperor's apprentice, then he certainly has received some training.

Gideon's costume does a subtle bit of worldbuilding with regards to The Mandalorian, not only showing what a non-Vader member of the Empire would look like in that era's attire, but further proving that he is a pretty formidable force in the evil organization's post-Endor history. Given the fact that the episode also seemed to tee up the beginning of the First Order, the evolution of the Empire that flourished in the sequel trilogy, that fact only gets more and more chilling.

One thing I was right, but I didn't knew that they were Dark Troopers

only seen in Star Wars: Dark Forces video game, fighting against the legendary Kyle Katarn. Unlike normal Storm Troopers these are robots, or rather androids designed to take on the hardest of challenges. Dark trooper

The only thing is that there are a lot of confusion over the fact. The Dark Trooper project goes all the way back to the Episode I days, and there is a side project, where the Emperor created a class of Storm Troopers that were a force sensitive.

With them standing on the pods like that suggest the robot version and not the modified clone/brainwashed Jedi/trained force sensitive individual.

I wondered how the second season of the Mandalorian was faring rating wise. And the answer is very, very, well. It is difficult to compare with other streaming shows, but it is certainly in the running to be the most streamed show this year. --- One complicating factor is that Netflix drops an entire series at a time which favors that show to lead early in most viewed, but perhaps not late.

Shouting and cheering from my sofa when I saw it on Friday.

Loved the Snoke possibility/connection and this ties in with Gideon's medical doc wearing the Kaminoan cloners patch in Series 1.

I really enjoy the poetic nods to previous SW media. When the speeder bikes smashed down from the research centre to the valley floor, it was a mirror of the podracers doing that at the Boonta Eve Challenge in EP1, for example.

This show just keeps getting better and better for me.

P.s the IG-11 statue was hella sweet too in its kind of 'Boys of Iwo Jima' thing.

It has always done well. The show is so different from the movies that you hardly even see negative comments. I'm sorry for feeling meh about it, but if I stay true to my criticism then I have to show it.

Netflix does do weekly shows. ST:D is a perfect example of it, in the UK and EU we get it through Netflix on day after it airs on CBS.

Did you notice it without watching an eastern eggs video clip, because I certainly didn't but I got the whole cloning aspect of the setup. It wasn't too hard to figure out, even if you missed the shoulder patch.

I had to watch an eastern egg video to see it in the square, because I completely missed it, twice.

Williams Sonoma has unveiled the "Nevarro Nummies™ Macarons," the treats are available in a twelve pack that somehow costs $50. Those eager to afford a snacks worth of the Macarons might want to take up bounty hunting in their spare time to afford them. The official description for the desserts read: "Inspired by a sweet moment when a young Nevarro student debated sharing his treats with the Child, 21st-century artisans in California have created these ethereal French-style almond macarons capturing the essence of this scene with Nevarro Nummies™. For authentic galactic flavor, each exquisite treat is artfully hand-piped with a rich, creamy vanilla filling."
Star Wars: Baby Yoda's Cookies from The Mandalorian Now Available for Purchase

Fifty US dollars for a pack 12 green macarons??????? Who would pay fifty for twelve cookies?

This was "just like shooting womp-rats back home!"

In this season, he's had unbelievable amount of issues with Razor's Crest.

The Razer Crest is the rattiest looking spacecraft I've ever seen on any screen. It makes the Millennium Falcon and Serenity look like state-of-the-art interplanetary transportation.
It's a powerful tribute to the Razer Crest manufacturer that virtually any back-planet neighborhood garage can patch it up enough to get it back into space. With that kind of resilience, who needs a dealership?
Still loving this series.

I suppose it would be major a selling point for most people to have cheap, readily available ship parts. It is the Toyota of the Star Wars Universe.

I found this Cross section online. Could never find one of The Ghost.

Really loved all the references to various Star Wars Death Star sequences in this episode, from the "We think we've split up..." to the TIE Fighter chase through the canyon and Mando returning Han Solo style.

However... I'd like it if each episode didn't rely so much on long fight sequences, because these are effectively times when there is no story. And the number of Stormtroopers Mando has killed must be running into hundreds by now - which makes them less threatening as an enemy.

We get that Mando is good at shooting and Stormtroopers are not - but more story, more tension please. :)

Overall, though, enjoying season 2.
