We're fine to discuss satellite networks - obviously the British Government is somewhat eager to have it's own dedicated network seeing as it's losing core access to the Galileo one the EU set up.

However, as mentioned elsewhere in the science press, converting this network into one that is actually useful for needs is another issue.

So we no have (or are getting) GPS (US), StarLink (SpaceX), GLONASS (Russian), Galileo (EU), BEIDOU (Chinese) and OneWeb (partly UK), all offering satellites-networks for either navigation- or communication-purposes. Global systems for non-globally cooperative systems.

It's the ugly commercialisation of space. All for the noble best of reasons, of course. Imo. Imagine what it will be like in another decade?
