Recently watched Domestic Girlfriend and High School Prodigies Have It Easy Even In Another World. Both were random downloads; neither were anything I expected, which is good. I definitely am looking forward to their 2nd seasons and onward, though the 2nd series needs a much less wordy title I swear.

I have been watching GINTAMA FOR A FEW WEEKS NOW, it has about 450 episodes, & I just passed #300.

Just started GITS 2045, & am liking it very much. But, a mere 12 eps.

Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun is very funny, as this poor kid tries to fit-in among demon classmates. Sadly, only 22 episodes are out there.

Finished PARADISE P.D. season #2; very funny, but very nasty.

Princess Mononoke, for the first time in about ten years (why??). What an incredibly beautiful film. I teared up loads of times. Why didn't Miyazaki make more like this? Oh well, at least he made this one.

There's always Ponyo, My Neighbour Totoro, Nausicaa, Porco Rosso, they're not "environmental" quite so much, but all fantastic.

Nausicaa! Not Miyazaki or Ghibli, but I highly recommend Wolf Children to anyone who hasn't seen it.

There's always Ponyo, My Neighbour Totoro, Nausicaa, Porco Rosso, they're not "environmental" quite so much, but all fantastic.

What I meant by "more like this" is that Mononoke feels more serious and adult than the others, as well as displaying stupendous artwork and imagination. Nausicaa and Castle in the Sky run it a reasonably close second (what I wouldn't give for a full-length anime version of the Nausicaa manga!) but most of the others are too child-focused or domestic for my taste.

Oh that would be an epic tale! Would have to go full story based TV series, far too much to cover in a film.

That wasn't quite the right word to encompass all the others, but Porco Rosso lacks the epic sweep and imagination of the ones that most appeal to me. I did quite enjoy it but perhaps not enough to rewatch it.

I really enjoyed the scene in Porco Rosso when in WW1 he is flying lost in the clouds and suddenly he is surrounded by the ghost planes of all the pilots who lost their lives, quite moving.
An interesting film, especially the take off scene set in facist Italy, will have to rewatch it again one day.
Of course the one that really blew me away was Spirited Away, now that is a really good film, worth watching over and over!

I enjoy it and do rewatch it, but do get your meaning. Even though most of the films focus on a very small group of characters, some are powerful sweeping tales of change in their worlds. Nausicaa and Castle in the Sky represent quite major events not just for the characters, but also the people of their world.

Porco Rosso is a much smaller tale in that its very much an adventure for the few. If anything I actually like it all the more for that. I guess in part because I've grown a little tired of the whole "saves the world" aspect of much cinema and even a lot of TV. It's nice to see something with a fantasy edge that isn't changing the world. It's just an adventure.
