Ian C Esslemont; Path to Ascendancy

He is the weaker of the two authors, I don't go through the same roller coaster of emotions as I do with Erikson. Although Kellanved in his previous guise of Wu is superb.

Haha, I am trying to remember my pw on the malazan forums…
The series is brilliant, I have yet to read them all, or any Esslemont.

Pw?, malazan? I'm lost lol Must be high fantasy
Steven Erikson introduced us to The Malazan Empire with his 10 book epic Malazan book of the fallen. Starting with Gardens of the Moon.

Esslemont has written a number of books set in the same world.

I can't earmark it into a category, military, high, grimdark, epic, sword and sorcery etc, it has a lot of elements of all of them.

A word of warning you either love it or hate it, no in-between. A lot of people struggle, finding it confusion, can feel like your dropped in the middle of a story with no real idea what is going on.
I liked the fast pace and went with the flow.
