To narrow that down to the subject at hand, if I go to their site and hover the cursor over Louise Buckley, it adds a load of text below her picture, most of which is off-screen. But I can't get to the stuff off-screen because if I move the cursor over to the side scroll-bar, the text disappears and the page goes back to its previous size. (This is in Chrome.)

I've taken the liberty of copying the relevant paragraphs for SF&F from Louise Buckley's wants - see below:

Science fiction – particularly dystopian fiction/anything with time-travel/high-concept twists/SF in a real-world setting. Recently enjoyed SF reads include The Giver by Lois Lowry, Station Eleven by Emily St John Mandel and Dark Matter by Blake Crouch.

Fantasy – I enjoy fantasy in a real-world setting and books that have a hint of magic. For example, books like The Nightcircus by Erin Morgenstern or The Watchmaker of Filigree Street by Natasha Pulley. I also enjoy reading YA fantasy authors such as Sarah J. Maas.

Badly designed website. As a Web Manager, these sort of silly fancy effects over usability and accessibility really winds me up.

I'm struggling with this.

Partly lack of faith in the quality of my writing and partly a genre issue.

The novel I'd submit is more grimdark style rather than the attempted humourous fantasy of my other, more recent stuff.

I can certainly do more grimdark. Indeed, my wife has even tasked me with writing a horror based on an idea she's had (a very good idea). Yet, I enjoy the humourous stuff, although again, I often doubt the quality of that output.

Do I go 'what the hell', submit it or leave it in the virtual graveyard of my hard drive and the spectral limbo of Amazon kindle?

Considering, this would be my only third ever submission, it would be no great loss if I didn't.

@Mouse and @Jo Zebedee, I agree both. In someways I'm more worried that they could like it and I'd be forced to go back to writing that sort of genre.
