Strand and Charlie seek safety; Dorie helps Dwight on his quest; Morgan stays focused on the greater mission; Alicia refuses to give up.

Is this the beginning of the end for the last surviving Clark? Alicia’s face was thoroughly splattered with irradiated walker blood, but did that creek splash-washing save her?

Grace is taking the radiation threat extremely seriously. As a professional, she should know.

By saving the kids, Alicia seems to have fulfilled her need for redemption. Annie gave her absolution.

All of this makes me think that Alycia Debnam-Carey’s cast membership is about to expire. Maybe in the mid-season finale?

I thought Alicia trip through the Zombie Forest was crazy. It's true that her balls are bigger than anyone else in the Kirkman's universe and they are made from Titanium, not Brass. I would not have gone in there armed with a piece of junk, no matter how cool it looks. Her venture into there was a suicide mission and I really really doubted that any of the kids would have gone through it.

It is such a crazy place, especially as some of those kids were bigger than Alicia. How could they get past the blockage, when there was no way getting through it?

Annie claimed that they had made the "Growler Forest," but she didn't explain how. Where did they find all those kilometers of nylon cable to tie zombie on the trees? And how did they made it so that none of them were bitten or got grabbed by the "growlers?"

That cable bridge is a brilliantly placed, and it is not an easy engineering feature. The house however looks something that kids would do, if they had time and easily accessible resources. I have to applaud the prop department because it is marvellously set up, including the placement of the characters.

Which one of them figured to place it next to a water source? It is possible that one of them posses a master engineers mind, as the build shows proper thinking, making that kid extremely valuable person to be saved.

Morgan was right, when he said, "We are both in where we're supposed to be." The kids, they don't understand the physics and therefore they couldn't understand the toxic zombies. The radioactivity doesn't care who you are, or where you are, because it will get into you one way or another. Being inside the contaminated zone is living inside a time-bomb.

Well, the whole zombie forest is one of them, and as you saw, it was only a matter of time before the robes got rotten and couldn't hold the dead in their places. It is a clever barrier, but when you make it, you'll have to find a way to go under it or over it. A hot air balloon would a fantastic way to do that, but you'd have to be an expert to get it back in the landing zone.

Strand and Charlie handled the walker situation well even if they had to fire guns. It is kind of wonder that Victor didn't give Strand or Charlie proper silenced tools. I could easily imagine Charlie carrying a small crossbow, and Strand a can for his 1911. It's just the prop department didn't see it being the case, and the writers wanted them to get in trouble.

Still in the recent tests, most of the muzzle reports disappear under the 4000m distance. Beyond that you need large calibre weapon to make attention. There can be a lot of zombies in the 8000m circle, but you are not going to be able to identify the location, unless there is continuous shooting. That itself is plausible to gather large groups of walkers to wander towards the shooter(s).

You might have even noticed that Morgan himself had hard time locating the spot, where they were firing. He could only roughly aim his head towards the direction. With the can on, even if it's a rude silencer, that draw distance shortens considerably.

So, if you find a suppressor, don't dismiss it, you only need to find a gun that fits and then the ammo, and you are golden! However, I loved how Strand and Charlie were able to fashion a makeshift barrier from the balloon fabric. It's really had to cut through, not impossible, but against a few dead a fantastic barrier.

I loved that Morgan used the contamination suit to protect himself from the splatters.

I guess that generator was going to burn itself, because the backup models they have in the plants, already installed for the situations like this, are rated in tens of kilowatts, some of them going to hundreds just to power the nuclear plant. That 5kW generator was never going to be enough to do what she needed to do.

So again, Morgan was right to not leave Grace there on her own, when it was obvious that she wanted to live. He is a driven to do good, to do better than he could do for his family or for the Rickland. I liked that Morgan quoted: "All life is precious," to Grace when he gave her the bollocking in most gentle way possible.

I really loved the heart-to-heart between girls and what they said made me cry. I know I'm going to see her again, but before that I'll have to live the best life I can. And I am grateful for what she made me, how she shaped my life to be a good man. To be a bear with a heart ... even if my logo is a mechanical spider.

John did the right thing when he told Dwight the truth. Dee however was stupid, because he should know what the "Dear John" letter means. It took him ages to get over the mindset and it's not an easy thing to do, because I still care naturally. When you have someone you care, you'll do everything for them, because the relationship is holy.

I suppose so. Her end was a true poetic ending for the warrior princess. Her life was a good tradeoff for the kids, especially if they have the master engineer amongst them. She could be with her action a Barbarian Warrior Princess to honour her fearsome nature.

Walker response to noise (regardless of whether their ears have rotted off or not) seems like the key to their mass destruction.
In this episode, they were drawn to gunfire, Charlie's shouts and sirens. In previous episodes, they have been fatally attracted to car horns, fireworks, music, a garbage shredder, airplane propellers and a variety of other high-decibel sources. They seem to interpret any loud sound as a dinner bell.
The helicopter people must have the resources to create mobile noise-based traps that could annihilate the walker population. They need to step up.
Beyond that, the traditional zombie apocalypse postmortem coup-de-grace will need to become a universal procedure to prevent walker re-population.

Alicia has annoyed me this season with her obsession in helping people, I don't really want her to die, she never got a break even before, Madison was too wrapped up in Nick, Alicia had to fend for her self.
Over the seasons we've watched her grow becoming a true warrior. She was my favourite Clarke a pity the most likely scenario is we will lose he in the mid season finale.

You have to feel for Annie she isn't the oldest of the kids but has had to lead and care for them, she hasn't made the best decisions but how old is she ? About fourteen? The forest looked to be a good idea probably didn't think the ropes would rot, also they didn't know enough about radiation to fully understand the danger.

I think her character is younger than that. I'm pretty sure that the wardrobe departmant had to flatten her chest, like they did with the other younger female cast members. Most of them are definitely under ten, probably knowing very little about the past world and its lessons. If these kids had seen the HBO Chernobyl docudrama they would know what sort of risk they are taking by living next to a meltdown nuke. Alicia surely have had education on the physics, but she didn't use to educate the kids. Maybe the funniest part was on how Annie changed her attitude, when she got trapped by the dead.

I can't really add much to the previous comments. I was wrong about how Strand and Charlie dealt with the irradiated walkers. I'm not certain that she could have rigged the balloon up as a screen that quickly, but that was what happened.

I didn't think those particular walkers/growlers were irradiated. They didn't wear the monitors.

Interesting call. Probably true. I hadn't made that assumption.

I thought the same, especially regarding the bridge. It was too well engineered for a group of kids. Maybe that was the "safe place" in the woods built by the parents that Annie spoke about last week. I still think it unlikely that the parents would have considered a need for such a place.
Definitely. I expect a big boom and we find out what the radiation cloud really does to the Dead.
I hadn't considered that before as the mid-Season close, but it is clear now that everything is moving towards that end.

After she was blood-bathed by the walker who almost ate her face, Alicia fished the radiation monitor out of his (her?) shirt. Contamination confirmed, as reflected by the doomed look of realization on her face.

This seems like the perfect explanation.
The parents built the bridge to the island and possibly stocked it with short-term supplies. The kids added the Swiss Family Robinson house when their refuge became permanent.

It seems the group of kids will be along for the ride after all.
I am a bit unclear now but what is going on with the other plane assembly? Where are they trying to go?

With Victor and Charlie now on the rescue crash side of the apparently undriveable mountains, I imagine that work on the small plane has been suspended -- pending the results of the repaired cargo plane mission to bring the rescue crew and the kids back "home."
You might say that plans will be up in the air. :)
