Fear Us (Photo by Ryan Green/AMC)

Lead by Morgan and Alicia, the group lands in uncharted territory in search of survivors to help. But everything is not as it seems in this foreboding new land.

I felt bad to see the young ones shooting a deer and then losing it to the dead. Man, that was wasteful incident, but I get that they were shocked by the incoming plane crashing into the woods. Who does that? Who still flies planes from place to another?

The Fear crew. Yeah. I am as shocked as you are for the controversy and to be honest, they should have known that it was going to cock up one point or another. While Alice was conducting the perimeter clear, I was thinking whose idea it was to go flying?

Who is Logan and why they needed to risk everything?

I loved that the Dead kept wandering in the crash sites as if they were local people. I cannot say there are many big events in the Kirkman's world. Crashing the plane on a nuclear waste site is certainly one of them. Honestly, the big issue is how much noise does a plane crash cause?

More so, why fly when you are still moving supplies on the road? I loved the road kills. They felt right and proper for the world. Especially for Fear rather than the parent series. What is more noticeable is that they are still using firearms, and drives cars, even fly planes, while the original has gone full in to the medieval settings.

Morgan and Alicia said "We are trying to make things better around here," when they were asked for a reason for their arrival somewhere in Wasteland America.

That is good base location. Too bad it was abandoned, like so many other places. I do kind of get why the kids were scared about that place and Morgan's group. The youngest one didn't even understood what the toys are used for as all they had come to know is fear. General fear for everything. It is as if they 'd fallen into a permanent survival mode.

So this Logan and he managed to fool the whole Fear to leave the base and drive off to save people, just because somebody said they needed help. Now, as Logan said, "it looks like they have to help themselves."

It was heartwarming to see that Fear crew didn't wallop in selfpity for becoming robbed. They took it as a normal day problem and continued living their lives as if nothing had happened. All except Alicia, who still have problems on accepting the reality after all this time.

I'm scared that she will become swollen by the hatred and she will never find her way back to the light. In a way Morgan is failing her, because there is nothing he can do to make the past different and Alicia is too stubborn to listen anything.

The last mystery. Who are these G-suit wearing people? And why they are carrying with them coded maps?

I've missed this.

Looks like they're going to be fighting on two fronts this season, getting the base back from Logan and the map guys.

We will see more of the kids, don't hold up much hope of all three surviving.

Alicia has so much anger, she wants to help people but she also wants to hurt things, will be interesting to see what side wins. Full blown psycho or warrior princess with a heart. Her and Morgan are the two best fighters, also the best leaders, thing with Alicia she may decide her own group takes priority over everyone else and see other survivors as a threat.

I still feel there is more hope of a new beginning with Fear than TWD.

I want to like this show, and keep watching it hoping i will, but im just having problems with it.

I feel like this show is continuing its series of silly mistakes. And this season looks to be more of the same. The characters are always making the wrong decisions, as those kids kept pointing out to them. I found myself shouting at the screen, "the kids are right."

They keep trying to do the "right thing" and it just gets their people killed or at least in even more trouble. Which makes for poor story considering the villains on this show are far weaker than TWD.
This crew wouldnt have stood a chance against Negan

Pretty much how I feel about the original TWD too. Especially from season 5 on, but even earlier, the main thing that moved the plot forward was Rick's (and Maggie's, and Daryl's) stupid mistakes and wrongheaded decisions.

Martha in my opinion was stronger and more dangerous than Negan. She was a lone Wolf with no moral compass if she had assembled herself a crew she would have taking over the world.

I had to skim through the special presentation of the last episode to see if I had missed something. What was up (pun unintended) with the airplane? Like the kid said, no wonder a journalist at the yoke crashed.

Yeah. Every fan of both dead shows knows that the living are more of a threat than the dead. The Fear Gang's desperation to populate the latest refuge should not outweigh suspicions that a new voice on the radio is more likely to be an enemy than a friend.
Still, I was delighted to see that their new foe, Logan, is none other Edison "Max Headroom" Carter. Things are about to get live and direct.

Indeed. She is super pissed and she's finding hard to bottle it. But you saw that log book. It must be frustrating for her, when all their people has died. It must be driving her nuts that she cannot be her mum.

Which one, the fighter/recon plane that had crashed or one they crashed? They said that there might be some of the helicopter people appearing in this season. If these are those, then the chances are that they are the Authorities-in-hiding. The reason is not completely clear though, did they release the virus/zombie-plague or did they do the typical thing and went hiding, when the catastrophe hit the world.

Last time I remember seeing him, he was in Town Called Eureka. I expected him to be a good man, instead of ruthless *******. Thing is, we don't really know how much of his tale is true and what is fabricated.

Whaaaat? There were two planes? My memory must truly be failing.
The only one I saw was the cargo plane that made a brief appearance over the fleeing kids. I thought that it was spraying some sort of killer chemical over the walkers. Were they just hitting the ground to protect their vulnerable braincases?
I would expect some sort of helicopter people presence in FTWD or TWD to tie into the movie plans. The don't know what the release sequence will be.
Last time I remember seeing him, he was in Town Called Eureka.
I also remember him playing less-than-savory characters in The Librarians and Altered Carbon. In The Librarians, his assistant was Lesley-Ann Brandt, better known to us as Lucifer's Mazikeen.

That black suit is a g-suit. And they were wearing an Augmented Reality flight helmet. You cannot see outside of it, as everything is projected on the visor. They had them over ten years ago as classified protos, so I cannot rule them out as a new design. And the geezer who got stuck in the rebar had a fresh face, and close cut shaved head. He also had those maps in his side-pocket, like the pilots and their co-pilots do.

That was the Fear crew plane, with an engine malfunction. I thought it was just normal soot.

Altered Carbon.

Was he in the Altered Carbon?

I only noticed one plane as well.

Thinking about Daniel the fear crew need them, none of the current lot has a ruthless side. Alicia although angry will stay her hand in certain circumstances, Daniel will do what's needed no matter the consequences.

Agree with this. I thought it was a good season start. Obviously, they are going to go back and fill in details, which I hate - I'd much rather they told a linear story. Also, we are going to see Daniel again....

Makes no sense, except there was some urgency involved that we don't yet understand.
...to be honest, they should have known that it was going to cock up one point or another.
This is all Morgan's doing. He has a need to make there some reason for his survival. Shouldn't they just be glad for another day. They are clearly not immortal and as Alicia said, Madison gave up so much for them to survive.

Are these a tie-in to the films at all? We've seen military aircraft and helicopters before, so we know there is still something else out there. Is this it, or is it just boys playing at soldiers again?
Crashing the plane on a nuclear waste site
Or, is it a bomb site, testing ways to remove the Walking Dead? The girl said that there was more that they didn't understand about the place and so far I haven't seen anything that would make that true.
However, I'm not sure you should hold much stock in the age of the g-suit design. The show has made mistakes with technology before. They asked the boys if they liked to watch films, but how old is the young boy? Old enough to have watched anything that wasn't a Disney animation?
The youngest one didn't even understood what the toys are used for...
Makes no sense that he understands cinema but doesn't understand toys.

I think he did understand the concept of toys but couldn't grasp why there would be a need for them in the world they now inhabit.

Poor kid his is now a life of kill, run, survive, repeat there is no time to play, there is no hope.

We weren't particularly wealthy, but I do remember that almost anything was toy. And almost anything could lead to a story or activity or something. So it's kind of strange that he's a post-apocalypse child that doesn't understand the concept of toys. Were they abandoned? Did those two older kids took care of the youngest one all on their own?

Note they had their own word for the Dead, but I cannot remember what was it.

Did they call them biters or growlers? Not sure if growlers was a reference to the dead or a group of living.

If it was growlers, would that indicate they'd encountered the whisperers?

I'm going to rewatch this afternoon, I seem to have missed a lot of details.

But yet, he can grasp why there would be a need to watch fictional films? And my point is how old is he meant to be? With the time jump in this show between earlier Seasons it is meant to have been more than 10 years since the 'Day of the Dead'. That's how long Morgan has been travelling. Is this kid too young to have not learned "a life a kill, run, survive, repeat" while simultaneously, old enough to have watched TV. They want to have it both ways.

Note they had their own word for the Dead, but I cannot remember what was it.
The girl called them "Prowlers"

Thinking of the virus, is it possible some of the younger children may now be immune?

Nature evolves, we have had in past diseases that kill everyone who catches but eventually someone will have a natural immunity and survive.
