I had something for picturesque. Let me think, I'm sure I can rework for post-apocalyptic.

I had trouble thinking something up, then an image appeared. Wonderful choices, Artoriarius!

There, all in! I hope my connection to the theme makes sense. Good stories so far, CC

Pedro Del Mar: Only in desperate circumstances do we know the true value of something.

Ashleyne: The next best thing to pleasure is distraction from pain.

Ian Fortytwo: Progress doesn't care if you approve of it or not.

Calliopenjo: Those who depend on the kindness of strangers can't complain about being in bad company.

dannymcg: In any struggle, each side believes itself to be in the right.

elvet: An act of kindness is often repaid, with interest.

Cat's Cradle: When almost nothing is left, a gift means more than ever.

Daysman: Who will comfort the comforters?

Thank you from me too Victoria.

Great to see your interpretation of my story.

For those members from outside the UK we have a long running movie magazine here called Empire.
The title of my piece comes from a saying my grandfather taught me years ago:
‘One man’s rubbish is another man’s gold’
Although he wasn’t as polite as calling it rubbish! :giggle:

I know this magazine well, as I buy it monthly. NA used to have cinema devoted mag called Premiere, but it went the way of the dinosaur. I love Empire, and read it cover to cover. It may be a little out of sync with releases over here, but it has thorough coverage of all new movies, and the glossy pictures are pretty ;).

No. I'm not sure what that is, @SPoots .

It’s a very strange theatre of the absurd play that’s only about 10mins long. It’s just a mouth speaking a nonsensical stream of words. It put me in mind because it repeatedly returns to talking about “the buzzing” and not I, she.

One Man’s Treasure, @Pedro Del Mar – A desperate survivor must use what they can scavenge to survive. When you told your parents “don’t throw these away, they’ll be worth something one day”, you weren’t lying.

DEAF WISH, @Ashleyne – Trapped by a cloud of insects that threaten to devour the world, sometimes the only way to survive is to block it all out. Usually folks take drugs to get a buzz, not get rid of one.

The Robots are coming, @Ian Fortytwo – Everyone feared the “robot apocalypse” but it turned out humans could manage it just fine by themselves. Fortunately, with the pesky humans out of the way, the robots can get on in peace.

My New Home, @Calliopenjo – The last scattered remnants of humanity find refuge with a race of subterranean aliens. “I am a human and I live in a hole” doesn’t have the same ring to it though.

Last Supper, @dannymcg – The collapse of one empire heralds the beginning of another in this clever twist on a zombie apocalypse.
