DISCUSSION THREAD- January 2019- 75 Word Writing Challenge

Well, a quick check while voting tells me I’ve been visited by 2 ninjas at some point. My best tally in a challenge for quite a few moons now I think:D


And onto my own choices this month...

My shortlist was Bob Senior, David Evil Overlord, Daysman, johnnyjet, mosaix, Perpetual Man and Vaz , with the vote going to mosaix.

I had serious computer problems (power supply died for my Mac, and my backup webbook had just had to be replaced, and seems incredibly slow so far - and fails to save without direct and forceful intervention. So I didn't get my piece finished (just another of my short versifications) - I might put it in this thread when voting is finished (assuming I get my 300 word entry finished and posted, as that had disappeared totally, so I'm working entirely from memory.

Don't you just love computers?
 
As will probably be the case for the foreseeable future, work is such that it keeps me away from Chrons much more than I would like, this month was particularly so. Combined with man-flu made it look as though I might actually miss writing a story.

I had two ideas, and in the need for a bit of levity, went with the one that was lighter in tone. I did not expect much in response, so have been delighted with the mentions received. Thanks to you all.

But then I noticed a vote, Bagpuss, dear Bagpuss Old fat furry cat-puss, thank you.

As where I'm voting, I have the unusual problem of having three stories appeal to me equally.

@Parson has two horror stories on his short list? Surely this is a sign of the apocalypse. Parson generally hates horror stories.
 
Chris, too bad about your computer problems, I look forward to reading your story after voting is finished and the winner announced.
So happy to have made your short list, my story was just a last minute effort, I had decided to pass this month but I enjoy being part of this 75 word challenge so I had to write something.

Thanks to the reviewers, Victoria , Parson and Artoriarius for their excellent reviews, things wouldn't be the same without all of the reviewers.

Lots of good stories, from what I thought was a very good theme. Tough culling, but here are my lists:

Honorables:

Finalists:
Shyrka, VinceW, Artoriarius

I really liked the humorous ones this month, and these three were my favorites (or were several cautionary tales??). I thought Shyrka, in particular, did an awful lot of world-building in 75 words, and I really thought the reveal was quite clever...it made me smile. So, vote to Shyrka.

Police Action, @Daysman - I found the cute little temporal plays in this one quite beguiling.
And the Neighbours Are Quite Nice… @mosaix - Speaking of beguiling, the to-and-fro in this story is perfectly-pitched. Almost soporific.
Roots of Freedom, @Heijan Xavier - I found the mystery and melancholy in this entry fascinating.
