I liked this one - really liked it!

The production/visuals continue to be superb, better than anything ever done for a Star Trek series - possibly better than any!

This story was unique, an excellently told. I tend to appreciate a Sci-Fi story in which the "home team" doesn't know everything, and can only discover a portion of the answer.

In fact, I'm betting we neve learn who/what the "angel" actually is, and I'm fine with that. After all, why should it be easy - or even possible - to discover every secret Out There?

(I'm betting it's a Q, though.) ;)

The story telling has also very much gone back to the style of TOS, which I like.

And the Prime Directive, or General Order One is back, along with the moral choice about how to apply it.

Not a Q. Please!
I really got fed up with Q.

In TOS, they met Apollo, who said Diana or Mercury or someone had gone off wandering about the universe. Maybe it could be them.

This was good Trek.

One of the best episodes so far. My favorite episode have always been when they were interacting with some lesser society.

No Q. Something else. I can already guess where it's going, but most of the people isn't going to like it, because it's going to be as main-stream breaking as the spore-drive. Captain Pike said: "I have to take it a faith that a starship can cross the universe in a matter of moments, while on mushrooms."

There's a lot of things that you'll have to take to faith if you're going to believe this storyline. Although I suspect, it's far more harder to believe in Cameron Engineers seeding the life on earth, it is exactly the same thing. It's just he didn't had angels.

You could argue that this going to be resembling a story from Babylon 5, it's not going to be the same thing as they showed very clearly that they're breaking the boundaries and they're not afraid of stepping on some toes.

Thing is, angels, demons, lost civilisations, new-homeworld ... they are all very old stories. Some goes back over 60 000 years. So is the story of the moon, as the human civilisation has recorded that it wasn't there always. It's just, we know today, that it was. Look at the science headlines.

So, where did the story came from? Regardless of the answer, the donut maneuver replicated the conditions of an early solar system, and possibly gave the New Eden a new moon without ST or the Discovery crew addressing it. In other words, they acted like a god more ways than one.

Everything in this episode was marvellously layered together. In other words, it was perfect. 5-stars.

Is it only me or ondead that asteroid sample who knocked down Tilly took the shape of one of her old friends ?
I don't know where they want to go with this angel angle. It's Star Trek, not Supernatural after all.

No. You miss understood. Tilly's friend was an angel. Without her influence Tilly might not have got the doughnut-manoeuvre. In other words, she saved the colony for the second time, by influencing Tilly and ST's crew. The angel was also there, when they saved the people last time.

The fact that she's dead or has been dead also points to the same thing. Ghosts aren't that helpful. Angels are and I believe they will continue doing so as further we go into the events behind the red things. I could call them as Temporal Events, but ST might have a different term for the manifestation.

All right. Till's friend is an angel. But this angel had something with the red things as you say.

I don't mind to have angels or archangels around mixed with a bit of Trek. At least they don't behave dangerously so far.

I just don't think it's an angel.

Perhaps an extra-dimensional viewer who can do nothing physically, so influences others to help?

(Or is that still a description for an angel?)

I agree. The story was not one-dimensional. The production values are very high. I'd also prefer it wasn't a Q but it has Q like or ' Squire of Gothos' like powers. There was plenty of supernatural in the original series and other immortal beings "Adonis" and "Mr Flint". There were also others in TNG apart from Q, and much supernatural, so it is 'Star Trek' as we know it.

I do wonder what the goal of the being is though. Why does it want to save the Federation or, humans who almost destroyed their own world? Surely, the Galaxy is better off without such species?

The 'Tilly talking too much thing' was dropped this week. Also, Jonathan Frakes directed this episode and I think that shows in the general 'Star Trek' feel to it.

Yeah. Klingon's would surely approve. And so would all the other species we have humiliated.
Well, the Klingon's have tried to wipe themselves out several times too - with the Augment Virus and the aborted Praxis energy production facility - so, I wouldn't say they had any high moral ground to preach from.

Nobody has asked, what is happening in the other places, where the red thing was observed? Do they too have human colonies?

Well, it certainly looked like we were viewing them through some sort of portal or 'mirror'.

You mean the event when the angel appears? You don't have to be from another dimension to open a portal. They do it in the Discovery, but they never really show the hyperspace being one. Instead it's always a normal space with stars going streaks.

I don't think they're going in and explaining that the being is from another dimensions as I'm assuming that the angels get an explanation down the line, and it's in normal space. You'll have to remember that the Caretaker, who pulled the Voyager across the galaxy had very old technology, which was far superior to anything that the Federation had come up.

The Q was a god ... or is a dimension made for godly beings. I believe that the angels are an old race, like B5 Volron's and they are going after a very old race this year. To them, the spore drive might be a very old concept. Who knows? It's just they seem to know how to predict things, and set up scenarios that the current state of the Federation find implausible.

Actually, I don't think they're going to explain it at all - at least not fully.

And you know what? I'm truly hoping they don't! :)

Pike: ‘We cannot intervene’

Then leaves a bleedin’ great energy source for them to play with!

Loved it, good honest Trekkin
