What are you working on right now?

By my standards, that isn't slow!

I've just realised how to solve one of the major plot problems in the current book. Phew!

More proofreading. Hope to finish Plague this weekend. Still undecided how to handle the cover.

Truly don't worry about it, as Cathbad said. No matter how fast you write, there's someone who writes faster. No matter how slow you write, there's someone who writes slower. I guarantee it.

IMO, it's not about how many words a day you write. It's how many days a month you write.

Working on my collab piece for the first time in about two weeks. I hit 45K on my big story and am outlining the next big arc.

Spent the afternoon trying to break Google Translate. It's tougher than I expected! Even starting in German and translating into Danish before a final step to English, it does a surprisingly good job. I did manage to trick it into mangling a few sentences in suitably humerous fashion, so I'll call it a draw. (Just like the Black Knight.)

Writing a story of my mountain elves. Just finished a chapter written solely from the POV of intruding humans. Wrote everything the elf said in Shen (Elven), which the humans could not understand. Interesting experiment!

Not sure where to go on the forum for this, but this seems like as good a place as any. I was notified yesterday that one of my short stories was accepted for publication. My first ever!

Achieved my five year plan three years early. The thing about goals is once you reach them, you have to think of the next one.

Now, to get my short story mojo back and try to repeat.

Working on another short. The WIP seems to have ground to a halt for the last few days, but I want to keep up the work. I've finished my chapter in the collab and am planning on getting this short out in the next day or so. Maybe then my mojo will reappear.

Reached 25,103 words. I'm thinking this is half-way, but new events keep cropping up.

Ah, the joys of discovery writing. :)

Well, I'd never have thought the day would come, but tomorrow I will be as finished as I can be regarding Henry's story in my WIP. There is about 5k I can't write just yet as I need to complete the present-day story, before I jump back to the 1340s bit, but the sense of relief (and, dare I say achievement?) is incredible - as in want-to-throw-a-party-incredible.

Writing about the swarm of rats entering the village and the black boils appearing in the armpits of villagers took on an emotional gravity for me that was somewhat strange bearing in mind it's not real, but I've been working up to writing this moment for eighteen months and it always felt like I'd never get here.

So, word count for this section is (Draft 1) 68,771 words.

Which means the first drafts are now:
1170 section - 18,350
1349 section - 68,771 (+~5k)
1761 section - 42,450
Subtotal - 129,571 (+~5k)

Way over wordcount allowance, but it's only draft 1.

Now to reorient myself to the main storyline...thank goodness it's set in present day and I won't need to research... @The Judge will probably be as happy as I am, too, now I won't be hassling for advice every second week.

Nice observation. I've found that too, reaching story points that have been in the plan for years. Sometimes they've built up such a weight I get scared I'll never do them justice.

As for me, Fire Stealers 3 is getting a head of steam at last, after a couple of months of worrying that I might only have an ending and no way of getting there.

Well done, divbruh.

In between not sleeping and freaking out about various things, I occasionally edit a couple of pages of Locke & Co. So I guess I'm working on that.

Actually sorted out the stories I want to work on this year. (late I know, but had a lot of real life stuff going on.)
The most important are:
Two short stories I need to get done this summer.
One old WIP I need to finally finish.
One new work I need move from an idea to an actually WIP.
Also two sequels to work on if I feel I can.
