Discussion Thread -- November 2016 75-word writing challenge

Great story Hex, worthy winner.

Also, as I too keep records, there has been movement in the overall leaders boards and today you are also in pole position! What's it like on top of the heap?

Many thanks for everyone who mentioned my story - every one is like a bright summer sky filled with birdsong. But also I noted a ninja vote from @Justin Swanton - many thanks - they're even better ;)

Congratulations @Hex. A worthy winner - a story that tore at my own heart-strings and artfully ticked all the boxes of theme and genre.

Huge thank you to @Mith for the surprise vote and everyone else for the mentions. This month's entry was heavily-inspired by the amazing Paranoia RPG that I played back in the days of yore.

Trust the Computer. The Computer is your friend.

I think I have an idea for December... maybe. (Muhahahahaha.)

Congrats and please no Sunday afternoon made-for-TV Christmas movie theme.

Thanks for the mentions. When I read the genre and theme I immediately thought of a society where you were known only by your latitude / longitude point. An impersonal life devised by the one who held the 0.0,0.0 point. The centre of his own world.

Congratulations to @Hex! It was a deserved win through and through. Congratulations to everyone else who partook as well!

Also, many thanks to those precious people who shortlisted my attempt and to the person who voted for me. I am very grateful for your appreciation of my story. <3

Huge congrats to Hex for the win! Again...how many times is that now????

Thank you so much to Cul, Hex, Ihe, Heijan Xavier, and VinceK for the votes. And to all of the listings and mentions. It was the last day with a few hours to spare, and I was chatting with TDZ when I said i wasn't planning on entering. She told me that I was doing NaNo so what's another 75? So I quickly thought of something, and really didnt expect much from it, so that you for the boost

OOOh Xmas theme. I still have the awesome drawing from my brother on my take a bunch of years ago

Congratulations @Hex. well, well done. after missing out last year, surely a christmas theme or genre is overdue for december?

thanks for the stealth vote @Calliopenjo. apologies if it wasn't in fact a stealth vote and you mentioned it on here - have been a bit absent. was surprised to get a vote as i realised early on the genre had been edited out of my story.

Congratulations Hex, on a great win.

Also thank you lots, TJ and Alice for the listings.

I'm not entirely convinced that doing so would stop Hex producing a winning entry for the coming month...

...and yet it might prevent her from enjoying a Christmas knees-up (which wouldn't help us at all).

Congratulations HEX

A huge WELL DONE, to everyone who entered the challenge. And a large THANK YOU to everyone who mentioned my tale..

A big MEDAL of EXCELLENCE to @Victoria Silverwolf & @Shyrka for reviewing.

@DG Jones - Very cool avatar. I used to watch Marty's show when I was a kid.

MY STORY: I used quotes from real people who are victims of FRACKING SHALE GAS. Since I only had 75 words, I wasn't able to address the problem in other countries.

If it wasn't obvious from 'Krell', 'Forbidden' and the idea that something that arises from the ability to simply wish things into existence might have severe downsides, the inspiration for my story was the film, Forbidden Planet. (So, basically, it was all Shakespeare's fault....)
