Due for release in September, I saw this on Amzon and preordered.

REVENGER is a brisk, distant future caper novel set in the rubble of a ruined solar system, and concerning itself with two sisters who want a little adventure in their lives, and get much, much more than they bargained for.

This is a superb, punchy, action-packed caper from one of the greatest contemporary SG novelists. Fast-paced and accessible, it's character and story focused and promises to be an incredible SF ride.

I'm reading his stuff in published order and I'm miles off yet - still reading Pushing Ice - but when I get here I'll read it.

Love love love Pushing Ice!!!

I'll be picking up Revenger as soon as its out.

Cool! Thanks for the heads up! I'm reading Galactic North at the moment. Interesting transformation for Clavain...

Pushing Ice and The Prefect are my favourite Reynolds novels, but looking forward to reading this one.

I got my copy on Friday but have only got a few chapters in so far.

TBH I'm not sure about it- I read AR's comments on his own blog as to him being unsure whether it's a YA book or not (he can't make his mind up, which i find strange) and if it is that would immediately put me off, but I'll persevere with it as he's probably my favourite author.

I still think it's time for another Revelation Space novel, or maybe a follow up to either House of Suns or Terminal World

He is writing a sequel to The Prefect in the Rev Space universe. I think it's his next book.

He's also writing a short story in the House of Suns setting.

I cannot wait for him to return to the RS universe.

I've just recently bought House of Suns (which I'm reading right now and loving) but shortly after I bought it, with about a dozen other books, I was in a charity shop and saw Pushing Ice for sale. I stood there for about five minutes trying to remember which Reynolds I'd just bought and decided it was Pushing Ice (to be fair I have Pushing Ice and a number of other Reynolds on my wish list). Of course when I went back a few days later it had already gone :(

I just picked up my copy of Shadow Captain.

I'll try and read the two of them in the coming weeks.

Just finished Revenger....

A-har me hearties. Definitely a touch of Captain Jack Sparrow with this one, you coves.

Thankfully he ties this one's plot up as tight as a rigger's knot, not like some of his earlier Revelation Space novels. Plus I think there's wind in 'em sails for another adventure for Captain Fura Ness, what with the mystery of the quions.

Still a bit expositiony, although it's reasonably gentle, but it's an interesting universe he's pirating in, and I do love a bit of Big Alien Stuff. (Plus I've been following Isaac Arthur on YouTube and know the sort of system Reynolds has constructed)

Over all very enjoyable - doesn't make me grog-happy, but a nice solid read.

The hardback of the sequel - Shadow Captain - came out in, I think, January and the paperback is due out September, I believe.

Also I remember being a little confused by the physics of the system so would be interested if you could provide a layman's guide! Pretty please! :D

Yeah, not up to speed on many authors schedules, but it seemed pretty obvious that it was sequelling! :)

But it was still a solid enough story to stand on its own (Which in view of some of his other series, one has to be careful)

What confused you? At first I thought it was our solar system....because he does mention Earth...but it can't be. The black hole technology was great though and I think it's a great stab at what a Dyson swarm could be like.
