Why? because quite frankly Miracle day was excellent. Id deserves a follow up especially after the way it ended. :)

I agree. I've finally caught some time this summer to watch it and I was really amazed at how good it all was. I'm really rooting for another season, one that is in spirit closer to Children of Earth and Miracle Day because those two really struck a chord with me as opposed to Seasons 1 and 2 (while I liked them, they didn't really have the same effect on me as the latter two seasons). Children of Earth terrified me out of my wits while Miracle Day kept my eyes glued to the screen.

I really liked Torchwood and Children of Earth and Miracle Day were both of them gripping and terrifying. Almost unbearably tense for me, and yet I didn't feel the producers or the writers pulled any cheap, sensational tricks to make them so. It doesn't seem like either of those would have required a huge budget, either.

But if Miracle Day didn't put up the kind of number that TV executives want, then there is no way they would be willing to revive the series now.

They're doing an XFiles Revival and Heros so maybe they might do a revival of Torchwood too ? :)

Lets just keep hoping. After all, The Adventures of Merlin fans are still hoping for new seasons. OTL

Miracle day was by far, in my opinion, the worst series of the show and if they do a follow up they seriously need to make sure it isn't becoming to americanised as the show was always centred in Wales and it would be good to see it return there.

I disagree, I like the whole concept of Miracle Day and I hope Stars does another series. :)

The concept was good but after the first four episodes it lost it's momentum. Also the "soulless" featured heavily in the trailers but apart from one line were never mentioned again. Rex was one of the most unlikeable characters ever, yet they make him immortal. And the final episode featured the source of the miracle: russel t davies' giant asscrack mooning the audience. The mysterious organization that started the miracle have a plan, but I strongly suspect Davies not having a clue, he just needed a villain. And it just dragged on forever.

I didn't like Miracle Day as much as the other seasons, with the exception of one memorable episode, :p but I'd still like to see them do more Torchwood. Even the worst Torchwood is better than most everything else.

I would LOVE them to do more Torchwood - by far one of the best shows ever. I wasn't keen on Children of the Earth (although concede it was very tense and emotional - maybe I just didn't like the content) and thought Miracle Day dragged on and on, so would like to see a return to the excellence of the original series. Plus since they've killed off everyone except Jack, Gwen and Rhys I suppose getting a new cast could be problematic, but that could add a lot more spice to it!

Oh why did you have to put this into my head - SO want it to happen now!!

I assume that's a nomination for "worst Torchwood"? :D
Well yes. "Let's sexualize the Cybermen! That's what the audience wants right?"
Obscurus Lupa did a good review on that one.

Would be interested to know what other shows you watch that are worse than that episode.

The Cyberwoman episode gave me a nightmare!
As far as I was concerned, Children of Earth was the best thing on British TV that year (Peter Capaldi was brilliant as the civil servant, for instance). Miracle Day.... started well, but quickly made no real sense. I have a feeling that Russell T was so excited by the idea of the US writing room way of doing things that he lost control of the overall plot. Also they killed off the woman doctor, who was one of the best things in it.

I thoroughly enjoyed both Children of Earth and Miracle Day, but it took everything in my being to watch through any scene involving Rex. I HATED him. Bull Pullman, on the other hand, was chilling and terrifyingly creepy. Probably one of the best roles I've ever seen him in.

If you think about Miracle Day as a standalone John Barrowman mini-series, that just happens to star Eve Myles too, like I do. You can appreciate that it can stand on it's own away from the rest of the Torchwood world. Me and my mom watched this together. She is somewhat of a sci-fi fan, and definitely not a British anything fan. She's a cold-blooded American who voted for Trump! So I knew the plot of this series would be interesting to her and enough American to get her to watch. Even though she has never seen an episode of Doctor Who or Torchwood before.

The bold ideas were great conversational pieces. I haven't seen the whole idea of immortality fleshed out quite like it was in the series. Most times, especially in sci-fi the idea of immortality comes with the idea of invincibility too. So it was cool to get to see people actually getting hurt, while not being able to die. Sort of like the reverse of a Zombie Apocalypse. After all these years, she still talks about it every once in awhile, and of course whenever she sees Barrowman.

So we both would definitely be up for a follow-up Miracle Day, but I would welcome any new Torchwood.
