What was with Troi in "Encounter at Farpoint"?

I can't even watch this episode anymore.
 
WOW! Thirteen year old thread. Pilots usually have some kind of flakey aspects that eventually look ridiculous to everybody if the series is successful.

What is worse is when the pilot is the best and things go down hill. Ever heard of The Starlost?

She was at one time worried about being droped. at one time..
 
Looking back at the original post, I suddenly remembered the inclusion of scenes from the Pilot in The Menagerie, and how Leonard Nimoy portrayed Spock in those scenes. For someone who was meant to be in control of his emotions, the Pilot's Spock seemed to be very shouty.
 
Initially , I didn't like her character. Later on in the series,she got be more interesting.
