So - the latest news is that there's been significant interest from Hollywood!

Mark Lawrence: Getting the call from Hollywood

and the man behind it Wolfgang Hammer | LinkedIn

is really keen that readers be involved in every stage of bringing Prince of Thorns out as a TV series.

So if you want to help shape that and see the process from the inside, get involved here:

Mark Lawrence's Project: Help bring Prince of Thorns to a TV near you! - Hatcheree

Exciting times, though still many miles to go :)

Wow, brilliant news! I think my only input (must go and register to say that) would be to have only one timeline - rather than the flashbacks. Visual medium of tv can work with flashbacks, but too many spoil the broth... Not quite so sure about reader involvement in choosing the actors - X-Factor Prince of Thorns?? Besides, imagine a potential actor marshalling all his friends/family/neighbours to get votes, when all you want is the best actor for the job, and who are they to know?

Tried to sign up for Hatcheree, got nothing except an error on the page and a blank screen!

Not had any other reports of problems. It used to be (& still may be) a bit tetchy if you're using Internet Explorer... otherwise you should just be through in two clicks ... :/

I don't think any actor votes would be binding but it's an interesting way to get feedback/input, and hopefully by that stage any attempt at fixing would be lost in the noise.

Interesting development - hope Wolfgang develops the buzz level he needs to move forward. :)

It will definitely require reader engagement. Developing the model is a big deal for Wolfgang who thinks that reader/viewer involvement with such projects is going to be a big thing in future.

It certainly makes things more exciting than just signing a rights deal and showing up on the day with popcorn to see what happened.

Push for a cameo wielding your Stabby :)

I think pushing books, fantasy especially, towards the TV series rather than the film model is a good thing. It gives room for the world and character development that film just doens't have the air time for.

Dozmonic - It also gets ingrained more in the mind than a once off movie. Once people are more accepting of fantasy in the visual medium then more movies will get made. Look at the 80's and see how many fantasy movies were made then than in the last 2 decades.

Can not see any reason why your books couldn't work as a tv series. GoT has opened the doors. Exciting to see who steps through them.

Congrats Mark, that is some exciting news for you.
