I've just watched the first episode of RDX, and have to say it was a real return to form - plenty of proper laughs, and the special effects were a lot better than in days gone by!

Welcome back, Smegheads!

:D

Ah poo, I missed it! Totally forgot it was on. I'll have to see if I can catch it online. Glad to hear it was good though!

After Back To Earth it was a bit of a relief.

I'll be watching the rest of the series. Not sure I'd go as far as brilliant, but it was good, both amusing and with a plot that made sense (take note, Doctor Who!).

It didn't disappoint. It was a throwback to funnier days, that's for sure. The moose, the geek world's current most favourite animal.

Thought it was great! In a funny way, though, I preferred the 'unspecial' special effects of the old days. :D

Took me a while to get used to the fact that they'd all grown a little older.

I caught the last five minutes and enjoyed what I saw. A definite return to form. They look old though, don't they?

That's what time'll do to you :p

That was noticeable for the first few minutes, but after that the impact faded.

Thursdays 9pm, Dave.

Each episode is also available on the Dave website for a limited period (you have to sign up, though).

Indeed, I've watched it now on Dave online. I didn't sign up though, I logged in through my Facebook page because they let you do it that way too. But I saw it yesterday and there was only three days left on it then, so anybody who wants to see it there has to be quick.

Anyway, I thought it was pretty good! The mooses thing I didn't really find funny, but Kryten's angry little rant on the phone cracked me up. As did, randomly, David Listerton-Smythe.

tv doesn't pick up Dave (gasp!) and my laptop is old and haggard and does stream well so couldn't watch the one on the Dave channel.

But as mentioned, the full episode is indeed on Youtube -- quite a few times in fact! Which is how I'll be watching it later. Finally. Woot!

Another episode tonight. I wasn't too impressed with the first one, but I'm giving the rest of the series a go. Am I right in thinking they're bringing back Holly (or a Holly-like entity)?

Hmm, well that episode was a bit poor as well. No structure, just the characters going along their own individual plotlines, which is something I can't stand in sitcoms - there has to be interaction! The computer was ok but obviously no Holly, which was a shame.

I think the second episode was a step down from the first. Now that you mention it, there was a surprising amount of solo stuff.

I have to disagree K, I was slightly dissappointed with the first one, but this one was much better. Loved the PKD-esque Lister shenanigans. Short story structure, in that it all came together right at the end, and the plots were merged and weaved (for me at least) in a pleasing manner. Some good laugh out loud lines. Heading towards classic RD.

Purely subjective of course, but then I've been a Smeghead since I saw the original transmission of RD1.

Let's remember this is Red Dwarf...it's not trying to be Shakespear! It's about one-liners and the stupidity of the situations, both of which are designed to make us laugh.

And it still does make me laugh
