This is going to sound made up (it does to me!) but by the Old Gods truth is stranger than fiction! Many of you know I am a recent (old but new!) nursing graduate. I am currently working at a nursing home in my area. On my 3rd day of work I am walking down the hallway and what do I hear? Dany offering to trade Drogon for 8000 Unsullied! I tripped over my own feet in surprise!

Miss Elise was given aGoT for her 84th birthday by her great-grandson and the Old Gods claimed another heart! As faithful readers know she is now about halfway through aSoS. As of today she is 86 years old and tells me "Mr. George had better shake his tailfeathers," " I don't plan to live much past 100!."

Well Miss Elise, I agree and am passing your message along!

I vote to send this thread to GRRM. Or even batter - give Miss Elise his e-mail address, cause, as she puts it, he really needs to "shake his tailfeathers", and who better to explain then Miss Elise! ;)

Give my regards to Miss Elise, and tell her that, now that she started reading, must be around for the finish of the story.
 
Thanks all, you guys are great! I work again tonight and have printed this page to take to Miss Elise, she will love it! I will do everything possible to make sure she gets to finish the tale!
 
Boy what have I done?! I think I have a unique situation!

Has anyone else ever spent 12 hours at a stretch with an 86 year old women who has decided that it is more entertaining to question a fellow reader than to listen for herself?!!

Use a zero information policy, and stick to it. When I watched the HBO series with my wife, she would barrage me with questions after each episode, try to get me to confirm or deny guesses, etc. My answer was always something along the lines of"if you want to know you'll have to read the books or wait to see it on TV" i never told her anything.

Be firm. You know that the right thing to do is not to give her any info that is past where she is in aSoS. Stick to it :)

Yeah, my lady and me almost got to a fight because I didn't want to tell her anything, but after the end of the season one she told me that she is glad I didn't spoil it for her.

Be strong for Miss Elise and yourself!
 
Tell Miss Elise I said hello... My co-working was constantly asking me question about the HBO series... But I wouldn't tell them what was going to happen... Everyone was shocked when Ned died... Many thought Arya was going to save him...

It's hard not giving hints when people keep asking you questions... But stay strong and let them enjoy the journey like we all did...

P.S. I gave her the printout of this page and now she is telling all her friends she is an star on the computer!

Update: I have been sticking to my no info policy with Miss Elise so she has been a little pouty! Thought I should do something nice! So I went to Amok's website and printed out his character drawings, made a little montage for her. I am back in her good graces!:D It took her all of 5 minutes to call her grandson to bring her a big picture frame from home! Hung it up right by his picture!
