He wrote An Archers Tale and the Warlord Chronicles Trilogy, which George RR Martin clearly ripped off for his Song of Ice and Fire.

Consider them research and inspiration for writing science fiction and fantasy novels. Lots of writers use them as such. (Guilty as charged.)

Quite a bit of historical research finds its way into some science fiction and fantasy. For just two examples, I'd recommend (as I will do at the drop of a hat:p ) Kage Baker's Company novels (sf) and Chelsea Quinn Yarbro's Saint Germain novels (vampire-centered fantasy set very much in the real past). Both women have obviously done a lot of historical research that gets into their stories.

And some are taken in full and used, as Lacey has intimated...

In which case, I stand corrected and bow to greater knowledge and experience... And shame on you Kelpie...

(BTW Kelpie, enjoying your book immensely... Once I figured out who everybody was and what they were... When is the next installment??? ;) )

I thought you knew by now, Martin, I have no shame. I stand by all my words and deeds whether they were disastrously misconceived or not.

But to answer your question, that depends on which of my books you are reading at the moment, the one recently published, for which the sequel is coming in the spring, or that earlier manuscript I sent you a while back, steeped as it happens in historical research of all kinds (we're back on topic!), in which case the answer is obviously, if regrettably, never.

    In either case, thank you!

Oh, well then, I thank you very much -- but surely you've got the title mixed up with a book by somebody else?

I'm sure if you think about it, you'll realize your mistake.

I think someone is pulling my leg... I don't usually get autographed copies of books with purple covers all the way from the Americas!!! :D

And Alexa, you know the truth of it... When you disappear off the board, we are lost without you... :D

Gee, Master ! The day I'll have the big lotto ticket into my pocket, I'll stop working and sleeping. That day I'll shine my glory upon you as the queen of the place. :D
