Its been many years since I read this and I found I couldn't remember any of it, or even understand why I held it in such high regard. It starts well, pretty gruesome stuff, then gets a bit plodding, which quite a lot of filler before it gets interesting again. A great last few chapters and a very good finish but losing a star on my Goodreads review in this re-read.
