I adore this for two reasons:

1: I enjoyed quantum mechanics as an undergrad (even if it did bend my mind at times) and particularly liked the way that the mathematics predicted things which subsequently proved to have an experimental basis.

2: Physics is still full of weird stuff that was science-fiction yesterday and real science today.
