Horror Book Search

I am looking for a horror book I read back in late 90s early 00s.


It is set in a small, remote, American town. The essence of what I remember is cats or something yowling in the dark, they turn out to be demons. Many of the townsfolk are corrupted easily / Satanists. The evil are killed leaving only the good guys in the end.


Anyone think of a title?

Don't know the book but something about the plot suggests Dean R Koontz to me.

psychotick is right. This does sound reminiscent of Dean Koontz' Midnight.

Hi,

Same plot but they aren't demons in Midnight. They're biologically altered people. One of Koontz' best though and really brilliant the way he subtly weaves in the concept of Nietzsche's overmen always being destined to be monsters into the plot.

I think this may be Cat’s Cradle by William W. Johnstone (1986). Small town, cats, cults, a dig, and very Koontz feeling.
