The One and Only
Okay, in my WIP my MC faces the first antagonist. I want to end the scene with an ambiguous ending, getting the reader to believe said antagonist is dead. You don't read about said antagonist for the remainder of the WIP, but at the end, during the epilogue, you read said antagonist saving the MC as a cliffhanger.
Obviously, you'll be wandering, "why did antagonist turn good?" well, i haven't worked out the details yet, but i think he learns of information or something that he doesn't agree with. The character who misunderstands what he is doing as being right when really its wrong, but you don't find this out until the sequel.
Oh and he becomes the protag's closest friend at some point in the sequel....
Firstly, if the scenario i typed above makes sense, would it work?
And secondly, how would one successfully implement it?
