I haven't followed this weather news, but those places have some quite high regions so it isn't such a stretch for them to get snow in winter. Golan Heights, Highest elevation 2,814 m (9,232 ft); Sinai Peninsula, Highest elevation 2,640 m (8,651 ft).
I do think snow in the Valley of the Kings is quite unusual though.
It is quite bizarre, but the fact that is has happened before makes it a little less strange. If the Egyptians are anything like the Irish, then everything will grind to a halt with a bit of snow
