There may be some people that complain about the amount of vampire films and TV series around at the moment, but one sector of the media industry is reaping the rewards from this renewed interest in science fiction and fantasy.
According to research carried out by Mintel, around a third of teenagers are reading science fiction and fantasy novels, in fact the market has grown by eighteen per cent since 2005.
Furthermore books sales have improved following the release of a film with the same title, around ten per cent of readers go for a related title after seeing the film.
This is an interesting turn around as at one time film and TV was being blamed for the decline of the book industry.
