Avatar has blasted its way to monumental success in the box office, on DVD, and just about everywhere, really, so the sequel was inevitable and swiftly announced.
However, it seems that the film, which is due to be set under the waves of Pandora’s oceans rather than in the forests and cliff-tops seen in the original, might not be arriving as soon as you think.
Blastr reports that Director James Cameron told a US news programme that he has another project in mind which he might want to film before he gets back in bed with the blue-skinned people.
At any rate, he said it would be three or probably four years before Avatar 2 hits the cinema screens, so you’ll just have to pencil the date in your 2014 diary. Although buying a 2014 diary might be tricky…
Disappointed? We are, a little bit. We were hoping to be able to pencil in our two week break in Fuerteventura at the start of August ’14. And we’re disappointed about the film, too, as while we were quite aware the sequel wasn’t going to be out next year, 2014 seems a long way away.
The other question, of course, is what is this mysterious other film which Cameron talks of? He’s giving nothing away about that at the moment.
