Konami took the wraps off a trailer for the upcoming Silent Hill: Downpour at the recent E3 games show. As you’d expect, it looks pretty chilling. Take a gander for yourself over here on YouTube.

Downpour will feature an escaped convict called Murphy Pendleton (no wonder he’s angry at the world with a name like that).

Of course, he’s soon wishing he was back somewhere safer like prison when he discovers Silent Hill’s underground transport tunnels, as seen rushing by in the trailer.

Downpour is notable because it’s the first game in the Silent Hill series to utilise 3D to bring an extra dimension to that horror. And rather excitingly (for us, anyway) Korn has created the game’s sound track.

Expect the Downpour to drench you in all sorts of nastiness at the end of the year on Xbox and PS3.

Konami has also announced The Silent Hill HD Collection on PS3, which will be out in the fourth quarter, too. This updates Silent Hill 2 and 3 with various enhancements (including new voice-overs and PSN trophies) along with HD graphics.

And if that wasn’t enough for fans of the rather quiet hill, Konami also confirmed a PlayStation Vita (NGP, as it was known) multiplayer title, Silent Hill: Book of Memories.

The idea is that two friends are stranded in Silent Hill, and they must work together co-operatively to escape.
