Set your Sky remote control for stun, hide the kryptonite behind the sofa and swallow the red pill this weekend.

What are we blathering on about? Quite simply, the fact that next week, Sky Movies Sci-Fi & Horror HD is having a “sci-fi blockbusters” weekend starting on Friday 16th at 7pm.

The first film on is G.I. Joe: The Rise Of Cobra, followed swiftly by a bit of lightcycle racing in Tron Legacy, rounded off with a dose of The Matrix Revolutions.

If you’ve forgotten what happen in The Matrix Reloaded, then tough. But, you know, it involved lots of kung-fu, a keymaker, various prophecies, and some more prophecies. And it wasn’t as good as the first one.

Following that on Saturday evening is Predators (2010), Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen and The Book Of Eli, a neat post-apocalyptic tale (well we liked it) starring Denzel Washington and Gary Oldman (playing a nutcase, just for a change).

Sunday is an all-day affair starting at 2:25pm with Superman, and continuing the comic book hero theme with Hulk (go and make the roast dinner when that’s on), X-Men Origins: Wolverine and Superman Returns.

Finally, the sci-fi weekend will come to a close with Planet Of The Apes, the 2001 Tim Burton remake.

If you watch the whole lot, you get your next year’s Sky HD subscription for free. Of course, we jest, but you certainly deserve an accolade of that order for managing to sit through G.I. Joe: The Rise Of Cobra and the Hulk inside 48 hours.

People have been driven insane by less…
