My favorite Authors

I've had this book for a while and never paid close attention to all the picture pages... So to my surprise both Clarke and Asimov in the same pic hanging out and smiling.

I no longer have the book for some reason but I've always liked the dedication in Clarke's Report on Planet Three:

"In accordance with the terms of the Clarke-Asimov treaty, the second-best science writer dedicates this book to the second-best science-fiction writer."

Turns out this was settled in a cab ride.

And I have to say, that picture makes me laugh - I can just imagine, "C'mon, Isaac, fly to Ceylon and let's go diving!" - "NO and NO!" Thanks for passing it on.

I've read they largely got on pretty well. Asimov famously gave Clarke a limerick about him (Clarke) - its a hoot, I'll have to try it dig it out. It was at an awards dinner, and he wrote it on Clarke's napkin. Apparently Clarke never threw it out, he was so happy with it.
