Discussion thread -- 75 WORD WRITING CHALLENGE February 2013

Very welcome Perpetual Man :)
The fire as unquenchable as a sun, or however you said it, really stuck with me. Longer than the enchantment of someone creating life to sooth their lonely soul. Then the implication that love over took and fueled that fire just made it impossible not to love.

Yay! A vote!
Thanks, Alcubierre Warp. :)

My vote goes to Kylara – A.I.

mosiax -- a nice circular plot

Bob S. Sr -- a shocking little horror story

Perpetual Man -- an unusual twist on a mythic theme

EricWard -- an unexpected narrator

prizzley -- nice mix of SF and fantasy

TheDustyZebra -- a unique allegory

The Judge -- nifty little time twist

Phyrebrat -- a classic theme turned on its tail

paranoid marvin -- a poetic variation on a literary classic

Ursa Major -- the poetic structure contrasts with the stark theme

Culwch -- a grim tale of crime and punishment

___________________________________________________________

A tough month for judging, given the wide-open theme. One's selection is more a matter of one's taste than the quality of the story, I think.

In any case, I just had to go with my feelings.

Shortlist:

"A Life in Words" by Talysia

"Photons Be Free" by AlcubierreWarp

(untitled) by J. Hollick

"No Going Back" by Boneman

"The Titan" by Perpetual Man

With the vote going to Talysia, from a book-lover.

Well, I loved this challenge. Having a free pass at genre and a one word theme left a lot of creativity at work.

Short list:

Hopewrites --
Great poem

Abernovo -- A lot of action in a few words. Good job!

Juliana -- Achingly beautiful

AlcubirrieWarp -- Clever play on a T.V. Series

TheEndIsNigh -- Every end is a beginning

Glitch -- A frighteningly slow acting and yet effective weapon

Perpetual Man -- Love does see us through!

Eric Ward -- Clever, Very Clever

But the winner for me this time was apparent from the very first. HopeWrites illustrated this theme for me in a lovely, lovely poem.
