Spindly grotesque humanoid creatures start appearing out of the ground, causing increasing amounts of havoc as it becomes apparent that they mean trouble. They don’t emerge from tunnels, but instead they and their machines seem to be able to move through soil as if it was water. The creatures can also fly just above the ground, leaving a trail of withered vegetation under where they have flown.
I’ve only got vague memories of this, and I don’t remember the ending – which is probably why I’d like to track it down so that I can find out what happens. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
