    We've all done it.

In the heat of friendly debate some chance remark has resulted in a post that prompts you to go off topic and occasionally this leads to post things that you shouldn't.

I thought it might be nice to have a well known area that we could go to to continue these discussions (obvioulsy not the offensive types).

This happened to me recently in the

    http://www.sffchronicles.co.uk/forum/526581-what-do-you-love-to-describe-in-writing.html

A post by Teresa tempted me to respond however, the thread was veering heavily away from the original intent and to respond would have made it worse so here goes.

No doubt the powers that be will squash my futile attempts at a possible solution to this fairly common problem.

Indeed you sum up my position exactly.

I was young to the site in those days Pyan. In fact I haven't seen the true light of day or breathed the good fresh air since those heady days of the Carlyle meetup. I pray for an early release which I suspect will not be long for us all soon. :)

Gary your concern for my plight is touching. That I could be so lucky to experience such a treat. Sadly, it would require a heat source and although I've asked for candles I fear they will never appear. Occasionally I do find a crisp dried spider that has fallen foul of the cooling fans and this does indeed at least lend a change in texture to my meagre repasts.

Er... what happens if we go off topic here, TEiN? Though thinking about it, is it possible to go off-topic here, if there isn't a topic to begin with...

But if there's no topic and we go off it, then surely we're back on topic?

Sorry to go off-topic, but this is really a Lounge proper thread, which is where it now resides...:)

Makes a determined attempt to find the bottomic, but can only manage a few medianics; assuming of course, that an "ic" represents an integrated circuit, as in my neck of the woods, not something ickey or some other Americanistic contraction (integrated control? innocent corpse? Who can tell which branch of knowledge might have decided to adopt these initials?).

This entire discussion is off topic. Really (except for the first post).

    Off topic?

I'd suggest that this might become a marathon thread but I'm afraid that that would simply produce snickers at the back of the room.

Well er... Yes, she could get up off her bench and put the posts in I suppose.

Erm... no disrespect intended there J. You understand. (I suspect you may be still 'observing')

Far be it from me to remind the Judge of her options, but just for that sake of being topical in an untopical place (7-up served with pride)....

    - Subpoenae served on people and items
    - Orders to Cease and Desist (which of course allow her to declare contempt if the order is not acknowledged and carried out once served
    - Injunctions and Stays against this, that and the other

So, naturally, her honor doesn't even REALLY have to get up off her bench at all, much less attempt physical entrance to the 1K.....

Oooh, yes. Let the writs fly.

Just wondering, though - will I be entitled to keep my bench when I join? I've heard TEiN fulminating against some persons having beds. I've made my bench very comfortable now with the swansdown padding and whatnot etc etc, so I'm blowed if i'm going to let other people kip on it.

And you can't forget that we have only one kazoo amongst us, so you'll all have to share.
